Tristan - killer track!

I'm also of the opinion that unless the major labels drastically change their way of thinking and doing business, they will go the way of the dinosaurs. Maybe not soon, but I think if they keep on their current track it will happen eventually.

As for distributing your music, have you looked at other channels such as iTunes Music Store, CDBaby, etc.? Just a thought...

I think the problem is that there are so many people that now record tracks and put them online then the likelihood is that unless you're drastically different from what's out there in guitar music you'll end up staying with the masses... Without the edge it's very difficult to go from steve vai practicing 15 hrs a day in his room to mr steve vai performing in front of thousands.

Since I heard a guy from uni who played for a year learning about 3 tracks and playing them flawlessly I've stopped being impressed with people's guitarwork, being good has nothing to do with it anymore.

Hi Tristan, whichever way you pick I'm with you, mate.
I'm looking fwd to download this one, I can foresee I'll be stunned from the moment I hear it the first time.
If only some of you could buy your talent+soul+technique in bundle with EBMM guitars...:D

Hi Tristan-

Thanks for always posting such great music! I always am inspired to reach for new melodic lines after listening to your artwork.

Just a thought - you should consider bundling the track with your playing and another with just the backing track and selling them. I would definitely pay for something like this since I am always struggling for melodic lines and most backing tracks seem to be lacking in quality. Kind of a pseudo-lesson in ear training. Although I would never reach your abilities, it would at least open up new fingerings and ideas.

Anyway, just a thought and best of luck to you. I'll be looking for those bundles on your website next year.;)

so Tristan what's your opinion now ?

have you ever thinking about a pre-order thing ? I am sure few people around here will defintly help you by purchasing your record in advance We could pay you 15 Euros or 20 Bucks or 10 Quids and wait for 3 or 4 month for your CD to be finalised. Most of us are spending their time waiting for a ball anyway :D. From this forum you could get minimum 50 commitment maybe more

This can create a buzz and we can bring a lot of people to your web site for addition pre-order.

Add few concerts on top of that and you are there ! at least for the first batch of cds (2000). Not to mention that local press in France can support you

The rest will be history I'm sure :D

Also agree. I've traveled a lot during earlier years, and would frequent local guitar shops often. In nearly every one, some kid was sitting in front of a half stack, just shredding away VH or similar licks. I was impressed with the chops, sho nuff, but I rarely heard originality or even continuity. I still admire great chops, but I long to hear even more a great melody and theme, great phrasing and great patience and restraint. That's the guitar player who stands a chance in making it in the business, and the one who can play well with others.

so Tristan what's your opinion now ?

after several days to think about it , I just can't let my music for free...it was too much work, I have to find a good label and try to get a descent record deal ...

christophe godin put me in touch with his manager, who works also with Mattias Eklund...If we deal together, maybe I'll have a chance to make something good...

I'd love to get an official deal with a good amp manufacturer too ...and touring for him the same way I do for music man...I'm stiil waiting for people from rocktron but didn't give news since september...ENGL is ok here in france to make me an endorsment deal...in a way it's not really intersting cause I stiil have to pay and they dont make demo tours...but in the other way, their amps are my fave...

anyways, thanks for all your advices...I'm stiil shearching and thinking...!

OK Tristan here is my humble opinion,

First of all you are a great guitar player. As one of the members already said, your stuff is easy to listen to. That makes your music much more marketable because you have a broader audience. Much of the audience for instrumental music are mostly other musicians. I can appreciate the work and the effort to be able to play like you do and would not not mind paying for your music. I myself am tying to put together a CD and man it is alot of work. Of course I am not even close to being in the same level as you.

It is a business and your music is a product and if people like your product than they should have no problem paying for it.

Anyway keep up the great work, stay positive, and in the end everything will come together for you.
