Well, here's a story for you.

A few days back I won an eBay auction for a 1991 Stingray that is a good condition(6.5 out of 10). I was sooo excited....received it a couple of days after auctions end, when suddenly I receive an email from the seller (A store in Michigan). In the email he writes that the young guy who lists & ships their items sold on eBay, accidentally listed some music gear that belonged to members of his band....including the bass I purchased. I was taken aback by the email, and of course replied that he had to be kidding, and that I was sure he was bullsh--ing me. Needless to say, I called eBay, who informed me that I didn't have to return it, and it was up to me if I wanted to.

A few more emails were exchanged, each with the seller sounding more, and more upset over what had occurred, and....well, I don't know if the story is legit, but I believe in Kharma, so I've agreed to return the bass. I'd always wanted to have a bridge with mutes...guess I'll have to wait for another day.

Pics of my Stingray for a day :(:

Well that's a bit of a pickle....

Being someone who gets extreemly attached to my instruments I would be horrified if someone sold one out from under me, even if I could get my hands on the exact same model and year it's all about know the story behind the dents and scratches. Are they offering anything for your troubles at least? You do get the short end of the stick here.

She's a beauty, I would have to return it myself as well, it's just the right thing to do. It'd be horible to be in that situation period though.

you did the right thing but frankly the guy who owns this bass either don't care for it much or he lives on another planet as I can't fully understand how another member of his band was able to list his bass on the net, sell it and ship it.

Ah but that '91 Ray did have a finished neck and likely some Birdseye . . .
Also a 3EQ that I'm rather fond of (not being convinced of 2EQ superiority - sorry Caca;))
It doesn't have strings-thru but it does have beer gut & popeye arm contours - which may not only make it more comfortable, but also a tad lighter too.

Can you tell I love early 90's Rays :D

That looks like my old axe, but in better condition plus mids knob. How did it sound? Or didn't you even try it?

However, you did the right thing, even if the seller just was upset on the price. Think of "My name is Earl":D

I told him to just give $20, so I can get some tape to seal the box, and for some gas money. I also received my full refund. He's setting up the return via his jobs Fed Ex account.

Yeah, it's a tough call, but I understand crazy things happen, and he has about 1700 transactions with a 99.8 feedback rating, so I take it he's a nice guy/good store.

Th Classic certainly is a nice bass...and don't think I haven't considered it...but I got this one for 1/2 the cost.

It was super light!! And it had some mojo, which I thought was cool. Finished neck, and a tiny bit of the birdseye appearance.

The strings were pretty dead, but it had a nice tone...almost like a new set of flats!

Ha! I wish I had his ex-wife- Jaime Pressly!!

well if karma from him doesnt hit you back, you have earned some from all of us others in here ;)

MrM

I would have told the guy tough ****.
Something doesn't sit right with the 'story'. The bass is sitting there listed for days and days, then shipped off for more days. Someone in that band didn't exactly miss this bass. I'm betting if anything they found someone offering way more $ for it.

That was what part of me thought...but the good voice in my head won.
