This last week as you guys know I finally bought a 30th Anniversary Stingray. I really couldn't give you a true opinion until today. Before Friday I had only played it for about 30 minutes unset up. After setting it back to spec and giving it a bath. It started to play REAL NICE. I found that that I pretty much run the EQ flat on the amp and bass now. After a two hour practice and my Sunday church gig I can truly say this thing plays and sounds awesome. Our groups percussionist immediately noticed how much fuller this bass sounded. After a major screw up this morning (forgot to change the battery, how embarrassing ) I really got to hear it in all its glory. I could really here my bass coming through the house from the back of the stage. I actually thought they had overcranked the bass (not so, according to several people out front). Its a Stingray on steroids. Its has a warmth and clarity on top of the classic stingray growl. I can say I have truly have found my go to bass again. :D:D:D:

A big thank you to EBMM for an awesome bass.

How does the high gloss polyester neck feel versus the standard oil & wax finish? The last time I'd played a painted neck was about 20 years ago, and since then only had oil & wax or satin finished necks.

I remember the polyester as sort of "sticky" with dry hands and very "slippery" in stagelight sweat situations.

I wanted to keep my 30th in the case and save it forever in perfect condition
but . . . it just sounds too good not to play it.

I love my 30th...I started working on my wife for another SR4 by telling her that this one was not meant to be a "daily driver"...after all it is a collectors item...she mumbled something about "yea but it sounds so good, and why would you buy a bass that you don't play"....I've still got some "wearing down" to do on her. The mahogany bongo is a must BP. The best thing since apple pie. Needs to be the best sounding thing since Bongo. I Know you have one I never heard it.

The Bongo is the own the world bass that you have created.

I wish nothing but happiness to those of you with the 30th Stringray.

It is as every EB bass it rules. I hope LOL I never played one. don't wanna I likes the Bongo.

It's really okay, Tom. You can play them at different times. I tried playing mine all at once for a while but it made my shoulder hurt, so now I switch 'em up.

Its not been a problem so far. Once I got the GC demo grunge off the neck it felt fine. I must admit that it was a question that ran through my mind before I bought it. I do like the feel of the oil and wax necks very much. My other bass was a SUB with a painted neck without the coat. So its not that big of change for me.

Any EB neck works and works good. I like the gun oil and wax finish a bunch. I like the painted Bongo a bunch too. They all are so good they don't even need frets to make one happy.

imho
