Time for a singalong: "one of these things in not like the other..."

Nice collection - that SLO looks especially sharp!

I'll give you a ten bucks for the boat oar second from the left... then I'll have a matching set and can take my dinghy out on the lake.

I found it humorous. He was clearly joking. And I've owned 3 Corvette's previously and have a 4th on the way (should be delivered today actually), and think they look good, but it's not like I took offense to his comment. If anyone gets that offended because another doesn't like the look of the instrument they play, they really need to lighten up.

very nice collection... That classic is absolutely beautiful! Unfortunately my wife has officially put the big kabosh on any new bass purchases for the time being, but yesterday I booked us a trip to florida for a week in an attempt to soften her up... Big Al 5 is next :)

Hello, my name is Eric & I'm a sucka' for the dual humbucka' !! :)

Great collection. But what's that piece of wood second from left?

It's that VW I mentioned in an earlier thread. Some people call it an oar...others a baseball bat. BTW, no one takes offense at comments about the bass. I own one now and I'll be the first to tell you the headstock looks like Gumby! I just purchased it this last Tuesday from a guy in Dallas who purchased the former USA distributor's remaining stock. This is a MM forum and we are not supposed to post prices, but I'll say this. The guy who purchased the stock took out a bank loan, then he lost his job and is worried about paying the loan now. I had my choice of other higher end VW models at cost. He had at least four brand spanking new ones for me to choose from. I was the first person to unzip the gig bag since one of my distant cousins in German packed it. I paid less than 1/3 of what I paid for my Classic StingRay a week earlier. The VW has always been my second favorite bass. But you can obviously tell which brand I like better!

To tell you how much more I like Music Man. I could still return my StingRay Classic, turnaround and use the funds to purchase a new German VW Neck Through Big Toe Bass and probably have several to choose from. The Neck Through Big Toe Bass retails for close to $4,000 give or take a few $100 either way. I could get it for the same, or slightly less than the Classic I just purchased. But nope, not going to do it! The StingRay Classic is a keeper! Now if only I had a MIA Bumper bass lying around that I could return....

Sorry for the crappy pictures, I took them indoor at night.

My favorites

I like 'em all but I think the SLO special is my favorite to play. If I had tried out a StingRay before the Sterling I probably would have bought it first. At least if I had tried it out with my current amp.

It's probably a toss up between the Special and the Sterling. I haven't quite got the hang of adjusting the mutes yet.

AMEN! I own an Al**bic bass (one of the cheaper ones, but not cheap...) that cost almost as much as all 3 of my EBMM basses put together, and ever since I got my 20th SR5 HH (my first EBMM), that Al**bic has been in it's case in my closet. I like it, and will neve get rid of it unless I have to buy a kidney or something, but I really love my balls... My official $.02 testament to the sound & quality of EBMM products, which, in the grand scope of things, doesn't mean anything to anyone other than myself. I play what I like, when I like, & I like my Balls... Period. :)

Sentimental Favorite

really like the natural HS Sterling man.......very nice collection

The Sterling is my sentimental favorite, because I've had it for 3-1/2 years. Other brand basses, guitars, synthesizers, combo amps, effects, recorders and drum machines have come and gone since I purchased it. I will be buried with it. Some of the reason for currently liking the SLO a little better is probably due to it being newer and being a StingRay, which I never had before. Time will tell which one rises to the surface for good.

Hell...You should return your classic. Use the funds to buy that high dollar V-dub. Then turn around and flip it. Then go back and buy the SR Classic plus another...You could always send the extra one to me.

I know you jest but.

Believe it not I have thought about buying it and then reselling it. But I wouldn't want to risk loosing my StingRay or getting it beat up at GC before I bought it back. Not to mention irritating the staff there. I could purchase it outright and try to resell it, but sure enough I would take a hit. I don't know from experience, but I have heard that they take a beating on their resale value. And what makes you think my wife would let me pocket the profit? ;-) The stress isn't worth it.

Also as of late last week, I was told that GCs were out of the one I purchased on a nationwide basis. Of course you might want to take that story with a grain of salt. I'm not sure I believe it.
