maybe i shouldn't be asking here (newbie 'ya know...) but I was wondering how is the battery life in the Bongos compared to the sr? I'm absolutely amazed at how long I get out of my sr and was wondering if the 18v system is comparable...

I switch batteries every 6 months, and I've never had an issue with one going flat. They last a long time is what I'm saying

Same here. I change strings and batteries at the same time.

The voltage is definitely down after six months, but not low enough to affect tone.

Thanks for the good advice! I'll have to coordinate the maintenance of my basses with my smoke detectors and reap the bennies of bulk Duracell 9 volts and ease of remembering the schedule!
