no,i compare the ibanez universe and the petrucci..the ibanez is totally silent,i think that the electronics of the ibanez is better than the electronics of the pet..i also have a stratocaster that makes much more noise than the pet...i think it depends on the electronics..

I think it is 100% normal, someone had similar problem with an Axis, but it's not fault of the guitar or electronics, the more electronics in your axe (piezo etc.) the bigger possibility of the noise

but I might be wrong, someone correct me please...

the piezo is TOTALLY silent...
the ibanez universe is totally silent..
the magnetic pickups of Pet are little noisy
stratocaster is MUCH more noisy...

Can't comment on the JP pickups being noisy, but it should be no surprise that the strat's noisy. Does the JP sound noisy on a clean setting or is it when your running it thru the mesa preamp?

i know that the strat's noisy is normal..when i purchased my ibanez universe i was surprised that was very silent..and i expected that even the pet was the same..

this is the "problem":
whenever im not touching ANY metal parts on the guitar there is a hum coming out of the amp(even with clean settings). but whenever i touched ANY metal on the instrument the hum went away...
