My new Sterling HS has arrived

sweet! I like the grain through the blue. I got a chance to play an hs sterling last weekend, and I agree on the single coil -- definitely gives u the rootsy sound.
You've got rootsy, dubby, clean, growly, punchy all in one bass. Enjoy it!

man is that a sweet bass............just saw your pics in another thread and they led me here again.........

i gotta get a maple board.

I'm definitely digging this bass and the maple board. I've got it all tweaked to how I like it and now it totally plays like butter for me! It's my #1 bass now. It's got the total package - looks, sound and feel.

YUM

Sterling Neck

Here's a related (but unrelated question): Why does the EBMM web site's (which all the stores and ebay sellers lift from) description of the Sterling neck say that's it's basically the same as the Stingray? The Sterling neck is undoubtedly thinner than the Stingray, which is a primary reason I chose it over the Stingray. It's the most playable and comfortable bass neck in the world imho. It's a key selling point, but the Sterling is characterized as merely having a smaller and sleeker body. Most of the stores never pick up on this issue and merely repeat the web site (the only exception I've seen is Bass Central which says the neck is thinner).
:confused::confused:

Not sure what you're talking about, here's what I see:
Stingray: Width 1-5/8" at nut, 2-1/2" at last fret
Sterling: Width 1-1/2" at nut, 2-1/2" at last fret

It's been said that the Music Man website is being worked on and will be completely redone when finished. If there's something specific about it that you'd like to point out, there's a "contact" tab at www.ernieball.com where you can report the problem.

I can't find it now, but that language that Muscians Friend uses to describe the Sterling comes from somewhere. I think it's from somewhere on the EBMM site, but I can't recall where.

Thanks Pzo and Ritchie!

There's so many good colors out there, I'm really going back and forth on what I'm going to put on my Sterling 5 HH/maple. Somedays I'm thinking black, then others I'm with the trans teal, or sunburst, or carbon blue pearl, or trans blue... it's really hard to choose. At least I have more time to do it.
