My New Sterling

Just Bought this bass used at GC. Nice upgrade from my old OLPMM
Cant find a dent or scratch on it just need to set it up and clean the fingerboard.

Nice catch. Are you going to change the strings? It looks like there isn't even one wrap on the E string. That would worry me.

Yeah I plan on having the strings changed and a set up tomorrow and the E has one wrap.

Never did a set up myself and don't want to try it out on the sterling. Plus after seeing the bass today I spent the day at the bank getting a loan so I made sure to borrow enough to cover everything =)

As far as the setup goes, you're going to hear a lot of people here tell you how easy it is - and it is, it is. If you can, watch what your guy does. It ain't rocket science, and you'll be a better informed bassist for it.

Trust me, I felt like you for a long time, but once I decided to figure it out, I was like, "Doh!" It's really easy, especially on the Music Man basses!

Totally agree, I had never setup a guitar before, but since I invested a good amount of money in my Sterling i wanted to be able to do it myself because i dont want someone else to break it on accident, so that i could tweak it to my style and to save some cash.

Here's a really helpful pdf i stumbled upon on Guitar Centers website, it's pretty awesome they did this.

The only tools you might have to get are a ruler that measures in 32s/64s which you can get at Lowes or any hardware store probably, and a feeler gauge which you can get at Napa or some other auto store. Everything else is pretty standard stuff.

Its worth learning how to do and the basics at least are pretty easy.
