Had it now for 2 weeks and all I can say I am sold on 2 pickup Musicman's. One question, this sucker is heavy, 11 1/2 pounds. Since this is the only SR-HH I have ever played, is this the normal weight for these 2 pickup models? I could return it and try to find a lighter one.

Hey, SterlingFan,

There is a recent thread on the issue of the Stingray's weight:

Stingray "Lite"

It seems the SR's vary greatly. Perhaps you should continue to be a fan of the lighter Sterling or keep shopping for an 8.8 lb SR.

BTW, where in MD are you? I'm near Columbia.

I have not weighed mine, but I think that it may be a little lighter than that.

I am in Parkville, MD. Maybe we could get together and compare bass weights?

Thanks for your answers. I live on the Eastern Shore near Salisbury. It does have a great sound, don't all Musicman's, so I just might keep it and get a better strap. Found this while googleing, http://www.darestrap.com might just do the trick. My Sterling was a little over 9 lbs. Sold it, I just need more meat to my neck and the SR does the trick.

No they make lighter ones , I have a few, 8.6 Pounders, but they take time to find.

why is there such variation in weight? seems a little razy to me.

OUt of my warwicks, Ive owned 3 different Thumb 5 string Bolt ons and they all weighed within about 2 ounces of each other. Why do the EBMM basses vary so greatly amongst same/similar model? Seems weird to me:(
