Ebony, eh? How does that sound? I've read somewhere that ebony is a wood that some luthiers prefer working with for necks.

Ebony is a very close grained smooth timber that to me feels very nice under my fingers. My '94 G****n L** P*** bass has an ebony fingerboard and has one of my favorite necks to play.

How does ebony sound then? Brighter than maple? And what about Pau Fero?

ebony is a very very bright sounding wood. compared to rosewood anyway it has a very audible difference. im not real sure how it compares to maple though as it would have to be on the same brand/model guitar with the same pots caps and pickups etc to really compare and i only play gibson guitars and they dont use maple on their fingerboards. so for example i couldnt compare a gibson lp custom w/ ebony to a gibson lp ? with maple.
i talked to a guy once that said he played a bass once with ebony and he said he love it of all his basses.

....hhhmmmm. those pics make the guard look alot "redder" than it really is, but you get the idea im sure.
i also upgraded the pickguard screws to chrome along with the battery pack screws and pickup height adjustment screws to chrome ordered direct from music man. i hate those stock black screws that the color wears off in a few weeks after new! i like the chrome better anyway, small cosmetic things like this, imho, can change the whole vibe of a bass!
hope you like it, I DO!!!!:)
