OK, so it's old, right...but I wanted to share it. The really good thing about this B00 bass is that it plays and sounds fantastic. The great thing about my newer EB basses is that they also play and sound fantastic. Glad to have a B00 for the collection, but grateful that EB still makes top notch basses.

Weight

Mark, haven't weighed it but feels more or less the same as my '91 (and about the same as the '03 that I used to own). I suppose the consistency of that aspect too is impressive. I've heard some of the older ones can be anchors, but this is pretty good.

Yes, the mojo factor is just about right. Some crazing on the body, but still looks nice at most angles, and some wear on the neck edges, especially around the middle. Even the foam mutes are holding in there (just). One slightly cool thing about this bass...the neck date is 16 August 1977, which is the date Elvis Presley died.

Cleaned up

Congrats on the NEW to you bass. Please don't take this the wrong way, but Wonder Wipes would have made her look newer again for her closeup.

Guess I was just itching to post before I'd had a chance to clean her up. Some Martin guitar polish and new strings are on it now, so it looks better. When I get time I will do some better photos for myself at least. Note that no amount of wonder wiping will get rid of that finish checking, however.:p

Keen eye for detail

The pre-EB's have one less dot on the fingerboard! You learn something everyday..

Well spotted Mr Invader, didn't notice that until you pointed it out from my own photo !!

(Wonder what it would look like with a white pickup cover :p )

I am glad to see there is still some interest in the oldies around here, even though the primary focus of this forum is on the present and the future, rather than looking in the rear mirror. It wasn't just some hollow qualification when I said it's great that EB are making great basses, refining the classic line while taking it further in other directions. All these posts showing shiny new Sterling 5's in all those gorgeous finishes made me momentarily wonder whether the $$ I put into the B00 wouldn't have been better spent on a new Sterling 5 or similar. Ah well, there's always room for more basses, I guess...

Can't be - I saw Elvis at a local WalMart last week ;)

Nashman - good to see another Eden user - your rig resembles mine, except I use either a D112XLT or D210XLT as well as my D210XST. Same head too.
