My OLP Experience

I was at Sam Ash today & I tried the OLP they had there. I really wish they had these basses back when I first started out. Granted they are not as nice as a real or SUB Stingray BUT they are better feeling & sounding than a MIM Fender. My buddy who works there can get it for me for $160. I'm seriously considering getting it just for practice. I don't drive & I like to leave a bass where I practice so I don't have to carry one back & forth & I'm NOT leaving one of my Sterlings there.

I'm actually quite impressed with my OLP five - I bought it to see how I liked fives, and I didn't want to spend a lot at this point.

I think it blows away everything else at that price point, and a lot of the stuff that costs more. All I'm planning on doing to mine is replacing the pots, jack and wiring with better quality stuff, which should cost next to nothing. I'm hoping I can rig up a rotary switch for coil spitting in one hole, and volume and tone in the other two.

I recently had the chance to play an OLP stingray copy and i was pretty suprized on how good it was. Im acctually considering picking up one just to mess around with. I was checking out their website and I hear they're now making some OLP spectors. I figure instead of spending 350 plus on an acctual spector (performer series I believe) I can get and OLP one and a stingray copy for around the same price lol.

I have a pearl SR4 OLP that I'm looking to get rid of, if you're in the market. I got her about a year ago, and she was solo (no case, etc.) I'd let her go for $125 (+ shipping).

I also have a Digitech BP200, with correct voltage adapter (not the original), and no manual, $100.

im in a similar sitution, i fancied learnig five string so I bought an OLP. Very impressive. It would be unfare to judge the quality but the neck isn't quite symetrical at the top, other than that it seems ok. I have a SUB also. The OLP seems to have more output with a slighty fatter bottom end, but it doesn't have the sustain, compression tone or punch of the OLP, if you can afford it buy a SUB. Incidently i have fitted my SUB with a drop-d tuner which kind of defeats the purpose of my OLP as a result I thinking of changing the tuning a arrangement. I understand you can tune from E - C? Am I correct? also does anyone know where i can get an OLP scratchguard from

With a bit of setting up, yes. You'll most likely need to change the nut, but you might find you're okay.
