My Power Trio

I've spent all day playing all my guitars and the MMs are hands down the best. Right now I've gotta say my HSS Axis Sport and my BFR Luke are tied for my #1 spot with the 20th nipping at their heals.

So - for shiz n giggles I thought I'd take a shot or two of my power trio and post em. I can get everything I personally want out of these 3 guitars. I love em!

thanks man. ya its a crazy guitar. its got wide quilt going left to right then these crazy tight waves going from top to bottom. i love it

Funny, I like the Axis the best. I used to not like the looks of the Sports, but it's growing on me. How do those single coils sound? Are they by any chance the same single coils in the Silo Special?

ya know - i hate to say it but my AL isn't getting much love. i guess im not SSS kind of guy. the guitar plays great and sounds awesome but ive learned that I "need" a bucker in the bridge.

You see, I think your AL lacks first team experience, it should go out on loan to somewhere else for a while. And since I'm in a good mood, I'll be glad to take it and play it until it's ready to replace your Axis Sport.

the AL is awesome. don't get me wrong. its 100% a matter of my style of playing. and also - now, this is strange... i honestly have issues bonding with instruments based on their color alone. its lame but its some strange psychological thing. my HH Sterling and I didn't bond for a LONG time (2 years maybe) - then, when i changed the PG, bam, it all fell into place. its a bit strange but its true.

theyre all great and different at the same time. The necks play a role here too. the axis and the luke have awesome neck profiles. i love them both. the V and the asymetrical curves on those necks really work for me.

tone-wise... theyre all awesome.

I think the Luke gets underestimated at times. and some people are not into EMGs or have preconceived notions about em. i dont agree - i think the EMGs are rad. The luke has the 85 in the bridge and some people may not realize this is Kerry King from Slayer's bridge PUP of choice (tho he runs a gain boost too). so - the Luke can do great metal tones which its probably not too well known for... but it is awesome at it. also the neck pickup solo'd can get the sweet child of mine slash tone... and the middle positions are fantastic, especially clean. + the volume knob give you more awesomeness when you wanna mellow things out a hair.

anyways - the Luke kills.

the 20th is a great guitar as well. ive run it thru my marshall JVM and easily dialed in everything from texas tones to metal to clean. we all know how amazing it is from all the threads here.

now the sport is IMO an amazing punk rock guitar. the bridge tone is pretty perfect for it. the in betweens kick ass clean too. the neck pickup isn't my fav but its good. sometimes i think about changing it then plug it in and love it - other times i think I may want more warmth from it. but frankly its pretty rad and im probably trying to get this one guitar to nail everything and am trying to push it.

so - my fav?

cant say really... just depends on what im playing
