I've had my new SLO StingRay H for a week now. All I can say is its tone is fantastic. I've yet to A/B it against my Sterling HS, but I swear it has a much different tone. For lack of better words, it has more of a grunt like my impression of the way a P Bass sounds. I've got to get the Sterling out and compare them. BTW, my rig is a Mesa Boogie Walkabout Scout.

I found the same thing. I picked up a 4 string Sterling H about two years ago after instantly falling in love with the touch, the tone... just everything about it felt perfect to me.

Then last year I traded away a Fender Jazz for a 4 string Stingray H, and the sound of that thing just blows me away. There is a definite similarity between the two, but the Stingray has something special about it... something I really like.

I switch back and forth between the two, but I'm leaning more and more towards the Stingray. I can definitely see a Stingray SLO Special in my future... the Sterling necks are heavenly...
