You're playing Petrucci licks and yet you're still undecided as to which EBMM to buy

;) I would buy Pet in one second but I still think I need more versitality (is there such word anyway  :) ) besides it's quite more expensive than Silo I'm afraid :(

Sounded great to my ears... I really liked that clean tone. Nice melodic parts in there too.

thanks blackspy, I'm glad that you like it. Thank you all, I didn't suspect that I will receive such positive feedback, thanks again

Phillip,

Your playing is really great. You asked for opinions, so I will offer some. First, I like your sense of melody. The solo was very pleasing to my ears. The only criticism I would offer is that you might incorporate some silence at times. I don't think there's any 'space' in that solo for more than 1 beat. Allowing a longer rest here & there would allow my ears to 'digest' what they just heard a little better.
This would add some rhythmic qualities as well.

Your tone is awesome, your bends are perfect, and the fact that you're only 20 makes me jealous! You have a lot of talent. Rock on, brother!

I have to agree with everything said here. Great advice there Steve, and great playing Philliip. I can't wait to hear more of what you can record! :D

I don't mean to make this thread go on and on but, Philip I have to say again how good that playing is. It's way better than the radio play I get to hear around here.
Did you write that? Or is it a song I just don't recognize?

Hi fog, well as I wrote above the chord progression is from The Hollow Years by DT but I've changed the key to F#.I've added that clean part in the beginning and that overdriven progression is from DT. The only thing which is in common with the original song is the first fragment of the wah part (that melody). I just recorded that backing track and then I've recorded the solo. It was a first-take-solo, full improvised so I don't really think that I could repeat it exactly :D but I thought that it turned out nice and wanted to share it with you. I have a few things like that on my PC,

thx again fogman, take care

Philip

oo sorry, you might have missed it because it was on Live from Budokan album. They added that part there...my bad :o

Still no excuse! I have the DVD :D
I've only watched it 2x kind of half-ass though.
I'll have to check it out again! Thanks.

Thanx, Pundix.

I had 4 years of music theory & composition classes when I was in high school. The main focus was on ear training & relative pitch. Consequently, we spent a lot of time listening and analyzing music. The cool part was that our teacher had us analyze everything from Bach to Black Sabbath. If someone brought in a tune, he'd use it in an assignment.

We would listen to the songs and really break them down, to the simplest statements that you could make. It seemed a little pointless at first, but once we got in the swing of it, we realized that we were identifying what defines various musical styles at an almost atomic level. It was a lot more left-brained than anything else we were doing at the time!

I Liked. The music is great.

I think that just need to pay attention to the mix balance. ;)

But maybe that's not your goal point, I don't know......

But the guitars are really good and sound great.

Pro playality and feeling.

Great sound clip. Your playing skill are very good. But, your mixing and mastering skills need improvement. You also need to invest in a bass guitar, or your mixing and mastering skills really, REALLY, need to improve. Heh. :)

Good job, and keep the clips coming!

Thanks to all, thx Sin for your post, sure mixing skill needs to be improved :)

Late,

Philip
