I just recieved my new cab yesterday. My Walkabout amp, which has bassicaly been in service since I got it, was finally repaired yesterday. And I got a some new strings and am going to mess around stringing the 5 string Bongo E-C.

Well, for some reason it took the amp like 4 tries to get going last night, but after it did everything seemed okay. I woke up a little earlier this morning so I could play for 10 minutes or so before I went to work and I got nothing. Sigh, I wonder how long the service people actually played with the amp once they got it "fixed." They told me that the original problem was a blown fuse and some loose connectors. Rawr!

So tomorrow I think I am going to hit up the local music joints and try to find a decent used head. Although I think I will probably end up with a cheap Ashdown of some sort, which is truthfully all I really need.

What do you mean "being ruined"? Sounds like you get to go on an adventure to me. Hope you find a nice head needing a new home.

You're always welcome to the Peavey Session bass head until you get something that works. It's a surprisingly good little thing.

I might have to take you up on that Jack. The only place local that sells Ashdown is backordered 8 weeks on the one I am interested in. I'll probably hit up the GC's on the other side of town either tonight or tomorrow morning. I have spent more time looking at gear lately rather than playing and I hoping to change that soon.

FWIW, I just got one of those little cheap Ashdown Electric Blue 180 watt heads.
It's not an SVT, it's not an Eden, it's not an EA, BUT, for a little cheap amp head to leave at the rehearsal spot, at not much over $200 brand new, it sounds pretty damn good.

I really don't need a whole lot of power for what I do. One of the reasons I bought this cab (Bergantino HT210s) was because it sounds real nice at low volume as well as when its being pushed. I think I might turn into an amp whore and start buying and selling inexpensive amps to test them out and figure out what I like.

I think I am actually going to go out tonight and cruise the GC's. Thats what happens when you have no friends and a girlfriend in Philly.

Of course 4 Tacos is really all I wanted and needed, but I couldn't exactly throw the last one away could I?

If I don't find anything tonight Jack, I will be giving you a call to take you up on your offer. I think I have your number around somewhere maybe. Somebody over at TB suggested that I should try running a cable in the effects loop, so I am gonna give that a try as well first.

Victory is mine! I walked into the Plano GC and there it was sitting on the clearence table, a practically new looking used Ashdown Mag 300R that somebody had traded in this week. Exactly what I really thought I wanted. Of course it was priced at $299, which is as much as it goes for new. I ended up with it for $250 total out the door. Its really all I need, for my apartment scene. After playing through it a little bit, I realized that the Walkabout is not quite right, there is a lot of excess noise, whereas the Ashdown is nearly silent. I talked to the manager and he thinks I should be able to return the walkabout with little trouble even though its been more then 30 days since it was in repair for over 3 weeks.

Congrats on the new cab and the new head. Those Ashdown heads sound great with the Bergs. I have not had a chance to play a MAG series head but if they are even half as good as the ABM's you done good.

I actually just decided to bastardize your setup Andrew ;) A couple Bongos, one fretted, one fretless, throw in some piezo, a Berg HT210S and to top it off an Ashdown head. I also realized the other day that you are exactly one day older than me. I have played the ABM's and for my needs I actually prefer the way the MAG sounds a bit, but I think Ashdown is making some cool stuff altogether.
