If my wife gave me any flack over my music-related purchases, I'd find a knew wife. ;)

Guitar was important to me long before she was, I'm not about to give it up for anyone.

Either way, she respects that I'm a musician and stays out of my way when it comes to that stuff. As long as I don't do something stupid and put us in financial jeopardy, she doesn't care what I do. ;)

Amen to that brother!!!

I had this girl who started out ok with it, then used to complain about me being out at gigs all the time. Soon got rid of her I can tell you!

My situation's a little different than most of you guys. I have ADHD(REALLY bad). I can do everything except for taking care of money, so the wife does it. By the time we pay our bills, there's not much left over. For me to get a guitar, I HAVE to go thru her.

I end up selling things to get what I need. I was lucky enough to use some inheritance money to get a new EVH when they first came out. I used that to trade down to a quilt top Wolfgang, Silhouette Special, and an amp. I now am down to an older Peavey Impact and Peavey Studio Pro amp. Of all the stuff I sold to help out with the bills, I really miss the Silouette. I knnow what it feels like to have to sell stuff for family.

The good news is i might be getting a new guitar in a few months. The wife knows that I'm bummed because I don't have a good guitar. We've both been trying to get into better shape but don't seem to have any real motivation. The other night I was joking around and told her that if I work out to get a Bon Jovi body(don't ask, she loves him) can I get a guitar. She went for it. I'm basically going to stop doing the half ass workouts and diet I do, and really do it hard.

I'll keep it brief for now since most are at the open house. Next week I'll post more aobut what I'm looking for.

Agree with the wife having expensive hobby part. My wife has two horses which eat up over £100 ($200) a month. I still go by the 50% rule though. How did I explain two new EBMMs in 3 months? Good exchange rates :p ;)

THen again, our hobbies cost the same a year. Though the lure of a TC G-System and a JSX combo is proving very hard to avoid just now...I got bad GAS...stand clear.

Hi Jonny. I work in Currie, Edinburgh and live in Murieston, Livingston. I was originally a Weegie though! Grew up in Duntocher, just outside Clydebank, then moved to Milngavie in my teens 8)

Small world. Was that Queen Margaret College? My wife studied nursing there and we lived in East Craigs at the time

As for gear costing twice as much...you're right. But it's still worth every penny :D
