Hey guys,

I bought a Boogie Mark III in October 2008. They're great amps, but I had a love/hate relationship with mine. Last weekend, a friend of mine offered to buy the III, and I accepted. The hunt for a new amp was on, and I had settled on the Randall RM100. However, the owner of the amp had his computer crash and I figured it wouldn't happen, as I needed the amp quickly, so I had to find a backup plan. Fast forward to Wednesday night...I see an amp listed locally that I'd wanted for a long time...I emailed the guy, and arranged a time to go see it, which was today. He had lots of nice gear, including an Axe FX Ultra, a rack full of Eventide/TC stuff, and a couple of nice guitars. I got it for $1,200, and it was just retubed and rebiased recently as well.

On to the pics...

and a crappy pic of it on top of my cab (taken with a webcam, because I don't have a camera, and the other pics are the previous owner's.)

For those that want to know, it's an '05 Splawn Quick Rod, purchased from the original owner. Initial impressions are that it's got a wicked EVH type sound, and more than enough gain to rawk. Here's a video I did of it tonight:

Cheers.

Nice amp and playing. I could definitely hear that tone pulling off the VH licks.

Will! Congrats on the Splawn, brother. Your playing and tone in the clip you posted is killer. You've got a killer technique. I'm actually looking at picking up a Splawn 4x12 for my IIC+, but I'd be buying one blind without playing my Boogie through it first. Ever played through one?

Ahh, reminds me of my old one. I custom ordered this one in '07 and used it for a couple years. Been think about it a lot lately--this post isn't helping my cause...

Have fun with that amp. They can be pure evil when you want them to be.

Suhr, Soldano and Splawn...
damn you gear snobs! lol

Ha ha ha!!! Well, I'll be honest, I couldn't hold onto either Suhr that I ordered for very long. Too much money tied up in one guitar and that would start to eat at me. My $800 used Axis and Hamer Californian more than hold up...I won't be buying any more $$$ super strats.

The Splawn and Soldano were very reasonable, and sounded great! Since I'm a damned fool, I sold both. :)
