I did a search, so I don't think these have been posted before. If so, I apologize. I know some people have wanted to see the Big Al basses without a pickguard.

So, here ya go:

Nice kitty!

I think I had seen a photo somewhere once, but good luck in finding it! I think some people were considering a clear pickguard, which is not really an option with the control cavity.

That white under the pickguard will eventually be whiter that the surrounding cream-ish/yellow as it ages.

it's great how cleanly and neatly everything is packed into the routing. it's like that on the 3s too.

I changed the pickguard on my white 2009 Big Al a few weeks ago from Orange Swirl back to factory White Pearl and noticed, that the white under the pickguard was creamy-aged while the white outside seemed to be as new as fresh from factory. Possible that the pickguard reacted chemically with the color!?

I doubt it since I plan to have it refinished in about 2 months. ;)

I would think twice about refinishing it. It will drop the bass's value. If you ever decide to sell it. And I think the white looks fantastic. Just the humble opinion from the former owner. :)

Nah, I don't think the bass will ever go anywhere. For the ridiculous price I got it for, I'm not too worried about resale value, anyway. The Bongo remains the sole white fretless 5 string that I will have. This one is getting a refin in one of two colors that aren't an option for Musicman basses.

always thought the big al looked too "retro 80s" kinda like the peavey logo is...but without the pickgaurd it actually looks pretty darn fly...i mean if you covered up the obviously exposed innards there

Some look better with their clothes on! I think Big Al looks better with the pickguard.

I like it. I'd love to see it in a flame top/no pickguard version like the BFR Sterling. I wonder how it would look like with a chrome control cavity cover and a round pickguard, or just the cavity cover.
