... I played a certain black 5 classic that had a growl reminding me of my first 5 string Stingray, plus the mutes means an instant win!

Are the mutes stationary, or can they be dropped away from the strings to let the strings ring freely?

Thanks,

The silver one is out in the open I think of Hellboy when I see it. The Game Changer we cannot show the general public due to how huge its going to be and we are deep in the patenting process. Let me tell you Colin, Pete, Music Man Nut and other knucks got to see it. Ill let them tell you if Im overhyping this. It is the biggest step forward in getting all the juice out of your instrument in 30 years. period.

Poppa is dead on, What Music Man is Doing is Cutting Edge, we've all seen the Midi stuff etc, etc, no This is Amazing, I was very impressed, and when they have it ready to show you'll see a whole new Bass/Guitar instrument World.

It is that Amazing. DJ

I agree. Just when I thought "it's all been done" and every year I walk around NAMM and see nothing new or groundbreaking - all you really ever see is another company making a J Bass and claiming how great it is. Just like the drum industry in a way. As soon as drum parts and Keller shells became available, you saw a bunch of guys making drums - and if they're all using Keller shells, what's the difference? I've been reading about the Gc (GC being Guitar Center, so why not use Gc for the Gamechanger) and some have said, "I'm a plug and play guy and too many options are no good." That was my first thought too, but the more I thought about it, the more I thought how cool it was. How many times have we all had a bass that we've swapped out pickups and had a tech do a coil tap or whatever - trying to find that perfect tone or sound? If the Gc is going to get all the juice out, then we'll never have this problem ever again. The question is: will there be a downside - like will the Gc be the only bass you need, which means that a player will only have one EB/MM bass instead of 10? For me, the answer is no because I like having a few different toys. The other question is will the system be available as a retrofit drop-in for your existing bass? The other thing is that after all the patents are in place, no other company will be able to copy it, right? This IS huge - and I think that all the other companies will be left scratching their heads and thinking, "wow, we're screwed now."

Can they adjust on the fly, so you can have them engaged for one song and dropped down for the next song?

Thanks!

Maybe. Depends how much time you have between songs, how hard they were engaged, and your own dexterity.

5 string Big AL! 5 string Big AL!! 5 String Big AL!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is NO joke. The first night after discovering these I went to join Mrs.sitonmybass who was already asleep. She stirred and I began to mutter, "Big Al 5 single H, Big Al 5 single H, Big Al 5 single H, Big Al 5 single H..."

She awoke and I told her about them.

For the life of me I still can't remember her response, assuming there was one...

It was probably, "Zzzzzzzzzzzz..."

SIt I dop l;ove how your wife shares your passion for these basses

She "oohs and ahs" right along with me when we gaze longingly at EBMM basses. She recently asked for me to show her something simple on bass and I obliged.
Did I ever mention on this forum that I want a Big Al 5 single H...? ;)
