Anyone who has had the opportunity to plug in and play the new 25th Anniversary guitar, what does it sound like???
I understand that the pups are basically the same as the Axis, but we've got a whole new body, and BP describes it as "it comes alive".

If you could use existing EBMM guitars as references in your description, it would be much appreciated.

You know Foggy, it's a bit hard to tell with the listening stations/headphones situation, you can really hear the tone and resonance when you plug into an amp. However, I am certainly thankful for the play stations EBMM had setup. I thought their setup was the best at NAMM. With all the awesome players (famous and unknown) walking around, I was much too intimidated to plug any guitars into an amp and start wailing. So headphones were nice. :)

That being said, it did sound great. I tried all the tones and comparison wise it really was unique. I don't know maybe a cross between a 20th Silo and a Axis? I should have tried a BFR Axis to compare. However, there is that whole parallel/series switch that just gives you twice as many options as the previous models. I don't think comparisons can really give it justice, it does sound like it is in a class by itself.

Playability wise? Top notch! The awesome neck of a Silhouette Special with the body of a contoured Axis. As you can imagine, it felt just right.

You'll love it bro, trust me!

Yeah, I asked about that. I asked if they were the same pickups as the 20th Silhouette, but AJ said they were the standard Axis pickups with metal covers. They look a lot like the ones on the 20th though.

I plugged one into the ENGL Steve Morse amp they had set up, and my god it was amazing. So much resonance and sustain, and the pickups were plenty hot! The guitar really screamed, but also sounds awesome clean. Definitely more clarity and definition than the ordinary Axis(probably due to the chanbering), and a little classier looking, too!
The neck definitely reminded me of the Silo Special, and was awesome. A perfect guitar. Good job all you guys at EBMM!

That sounds about right for chambering. In my experience, chambering softens the mids a little, provides clarity on the highs, and enhances the bass response, so an increase in clarity from all of that sounds right.

The Axis pickups are great pickups too and are some of my favorites.
