I know what you are saying and I'm playing devils advocate here - BP would argue that the reason we pay more is, yes, because of import duties, vat and freight charges- that's the same with any imported goods but it costs EB a lot for Strings and Things to act as distributors and the UK arm of Customer Service.

Thing that continues to puzzle me is why it doesn't seem to work that way with our (UK) goods heading the other way across the Atlantic.

For example check out Marshall amplifier prices in the US v UK prices. Two examples I have just looked up = Exactly the same prices quoted

(Guitar Center - USA / Andertons - UK)

Perhaps there's a good reason but common sense would suggest that these goods should cost more in the States?

Frankly I'm not really concerned about a warranty on my EBMMs. So far I have had to spend a total of £10 to have a nut filed slightly on one of the 6 that I own.

Sorry, I know this is OT but this is an ongoing source of frustration for us 'rest of the world' customers.

Dave, it seems that you have exceeded your bandwidth on the .mac photo sharing. If you email me the files, I will host them on my premium photobucket account and post a link so everyone can see them. tim_caesar at hotmail.com

Big Poppa has explained the position quite a few times on the forum and a search would no doubt, explain things better than I could, for example take a look here:-

I'm glad that you haven't experienced too many problems with yer balls.
But step back and have a thought for those that do need slightly more remedial work than a nut - like the guy who needed a new body!

I had a look at the Marshall comparison and yes you are right - on that example it seems that the prices in USA/UK are comparable, and you know what ? - I haven't got a clue why !!!!

EDIT
Sorry guys I seem to be de railing this thread - let's get back to NAMM

Hi Spud

Quite right, we have (thoroughly) travelled this road before in that thread (but I'd still like to know how they can sell Marshall's at the same price in the US as here?;) )

So, NAMM eh! When's our (UK) next big BFR loaded music/guitar show?

Let's have one in the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff. - It's not being used for anything else!!! ;)
Edit:
Maybe get Sterling over for the Ryder Cup in Newport (just down the road)

I was at the Celtic Manor a couple of months ago for a conference. They were already selling loads of Ryder Cup branded merchandise there.

Talk about being ahead of the game!:D

Lol at Trev's work he's been doing a load of stuff for the PGA and gets to see all sorts of funky stuff - Ryder Cup scorecards, applications etc - so he can see how well people REALLY did ;) Hahaha

NAMM in UK ? I guess it would have to be called UKMM or GBMM or EuroMM

As for the Celtic Manor - yes yer right they are gearing up for it.
I've only played 2 rounds of golf in my life - one in Dubai and one on the Celtic Manor
- I guess I'm not doing too bad! ;)

Let me give you an example - I have heard that somebody had to have warranty work done on their EB. They were told to take the guitar to their supplier who sent the guitar back to S&T at no charge. Within a week the guitar had a new body and was back with the owner. No charge at all!!

Now somebody has to shoulder that cost and it's EB.

Also EB must be suffering what with the weak dollar - I know there has been a price rise, but that was worldwide - not just in Europe.

S'ok, I know where you are coming from and that you will get a guitar a lot cheaper your way. But your guitar will not be guarenteed over here.
CAVEAT EMPTOR.

I shall take that into consideration. I never even thought of the warranty issue. I love this company. I really wouldn't want to take there fabulous CS for granted. And string and things are always so helpful whenever I have spoken with them. You're probably right.
