I have to be honest, that demo did nothing to make me want to rush out and get a Sabre. It's a great looking bass, but his demo seemed like it was a quick video showing his quick chops.

Will have to wait for Mr Friedlands review, at least he plays a bass as if it is being used in the real world, a mix of finger, slap and pick styles, I don't doubt the talent of the gent that was in that vid, but it was like the runs, just splatter no content, that didn't sell the sabre bass to you at all.

Ohh, come on guys, ..You're simply jealous according to how Lars kickin' an A** with that Sabre Bass.

OK, ...this "new wave" slap style dominate in this demo video, ...but if You watch carefully, You can spot finger style and nail pick style too, ...also some switch tone changing occasionally...etc.

I'm waiting for Ed Friedland's review too, ..I hope he'll make a different approach to this excellent Sabre Bass?

I prefer bass to be a rhythm instrument...an awesome groove can say so much! For lead work I prefer listening to Steve Morse, Albert Lee and Luke. :)

Thanks for posting Keko. You gotta love Lars's playing but what stands out for me are those killer tones - the bass certainly nails that Louis Johnson slap sound, for instance. Nice sounding grooves in there amongst the flashy virtuoso stuff.

I want one a Sabre even more now.

Thanks for posting that video. I'm not a "lead bass" player, so that is a bit more than I would ever want to do on a bass... BUT, I thought it did a decent job of displaying (especially) the slap tone (and I do like to slap the funk, but I'm a bit more groove oriented), and some fingerstyle and pick. Great sounding bass!

This is so cool! I'm one of the 7 people that would ask BP about a Sabre Classic reissue from time to time. When I saw the Tony Levin offering of the Stingray & Sabre, I knew the reissue Sabre would be around the corner since they were tooling up for it anyway - only made sense to do the classic reissue. I've read all the threads and haven't seen any info on what date they will be hitting the streets, retail/street price, lead time after placing an order, etc....

Sooooo... have you ordered one yet?
