Hey all I'm heading out to a conference in Nashville this weekend and I was wondering if anyone knew of any good guitar stores in the area.

Obviously, I'd be looking for stores that sell those wonderful products from the good folks at EBMM.

Always a good idea to check out the important historic and cultural sites when travelling:D

Be on the lookout for concerts too. They got some serious pickers down thataway.

I think the Gibson Cafe moved from downtown to the mall near the Opryhole hotel. They use to have an open mic that was awsome. The Bluebird Cafe (Pronounced Blowbird) (Out west on Hillsboro Rd.(the nice part of town)) Has an open mic on Tuesday that is the essence of all things Nashville (good and bad) Tell Barbara I said hello. Corner Music (Way on the south side) has bunches of EBMM's (That's where I saw Steve Morse give a clinic and bought my first MM). Also Rock Block Guitars (Around Elliston and 21st) has some cool stuff. Gruhn Guitars(Way down on lower Broadway downtown) is more a musem than a store. If you are staying in the convention center downtown then Hewgley's music has everything from trumpets to PA's (Alex Lifeson bought a guitar there once)

If you like BarBQ then look up Mary's BarBQ in the phone book. Best to take a cab there so you know you have a ride back. Tip the cabbie a sandwich and you will have a new friend in Nashville

Cool, thanx for all the tips.

Norm, yah I am staying at the Opryland convention center, from the web site it looks awesome. http://www.gaylordhotels.com/gaylordopryland/

As for open mic night, yah I'm going to probably have to pass, but thanx for letting me know. You see I am the absolute worst attempt of a player there is going. I pretty much only mess around with my EBMM's. I've been more or a guitar lover than a player and can't even really play. With 2 little ones time with them is where I spend most of my time and the guitars come second (usually 1 hour or so a week, if even that). I'll check out Mary's. I have a cousin who's lived there for quite a while, so I'm sure he can let me know of a few hole in the walls that are pretty awesome too.

Pack-rat, yah I was thinking the exact same thing. I'll have most of my evenings/nights free, so that's probably when I'll do my scrounging. Though I'll have to talk my wife into it, since she'll be coming with me, but sometimes she's up for it.

I've never been to Nashville, but I'm really looking forward to (as my buddy here at work calls this trip) this Boondoggle.

Definition of a BoonDoggle: Working trip where the company pays for just about everything, but the work that your doing is pretty much just going to lectures, making connections and digging where you are.

Thanx again.

Well I survived the trip to Nashville.

The hotel was amazing and a place that everyone should visit once in their lives, it's huge and breath taking.

The conference was great, I heard so good live music and I heard so bad live music.

I didn't get to all of the guitar stores that you guys recommended, wished I had, but I was there working and puts the food on the table. I made it to Gruhn and I have to say that it was a bit of a let down, but I think that I got myself pumped up for it.

I didn't find/get to one single pawn shop that bummed me out a bit too.

I did make it to the Gibson Showcase, that was cool.

Well just an update and thanx again for everyones inputs.
