Yeah, I just ercently purchased another manufacturers guitar car kit and didi all my axes. Wow! To see my Tobias after 6 years of steady playing withthe gunk cleaned off. That is a rosewood fretboard! I forgot! And my Ovation, I think its been.. 17 years? since the last cleaning. Honestly, my Tobias sounds better. My Stingray? Well I've only owned it for a month now, but play it every day. It will get funky as soon as it starts seeing bar gigs.

todd4ta, Where did you get the new screws?

... The strings were corroded & rusted and actually green. All the brass hardware was looking really bad. A layer of gunk covered the whole bass. I cut off the strings and took off all the hardware. I did an initial cleaning of the hardware, then dropped it off by the shop and they polished it up to a shine. I bought a few new screws and things. It went from a frog to a prince (cosmetically at least). I made about $1000 when I sold it.

Where did you get the new screws?

I've got an old Les Paul that could use a complete screw replacement.

Best wishes,

I played bar gigs for two years with my SR5 and it looks like it did when I bought it.

I don't understand funk on the bass. I can understand playing through the finish but little else.

A fine tool is just that. Use it to get your work done then take proper care of it.

Tom, I know what you mean. I'm not exactly religious about cleaning a bass after a gig unless it's an outdoor thing in the Texas summer.

I am guessing this kid was a punk rocker and either thought it was uncool to clean it or perhaps that portion of his brain had been damaged by repeated playings of old Cramps records.

The Bongo I got from you Jack shows me you know what I am talking about.
Thanks.

I am hard headed in a lot of ways I reckon some of them are good ways. Any way good for me.

John Schmidt and I played that bass one night, comparing it to all the other miscellaneous Bongos I had hanging around, and it was the one we most wanted to fondle. It really is a great example of a single humbucker Bongo, and I'm glad you have it, Tom.

While I'm thinking about it, that John Schmidt (bottomdweller) is no slouch on the bass.

It is one fine example of a bass for sure Jack. They still don't sell bongos in Kansas. I must not be playing it right.

I think you're playing it right, just not loud enough. ;)

You apparently have never heard me play :D

It is one fine bass and every place I take it someone says wow where did you get that bass and what is it?

I tell them Lord Bongo gave it to me and next time they go looking for a bass settle for nothing less.

Usually I will hear I don't play 5 stringers but I do like that sound that bass is making.

Just a matter of time here in this State before folks learn.

Oh. My. God.

I hope none of you actually refer to me as "Lord Bongo"!

Plus, and correct me if I'm wrong, you actually paid me for that bass.

I love you, TK!

Thanks Jack.

The funniest part is not a person any where I have played the Bongo has said it was ugly.

I may have to change to a daisy rock or something myself if I want someone to make proper fun of me.

Tell them they are available in 4 string, too. Heck, there's even a red Bongo 4H that is for sale...isn't for sale...is for sale...isn't for sale...I'm getting dizzy...
