I bought my Natural quilted Super Sport in 2006, and I couldn't put it down, I was hooked forever (Still am). I started noticing in the last 12 months or so that the maple top has more depth to it now and seemed darker..almost like a roasted version (which I love by the way).

Here is a pic of it right after I got it in 2006:

Here is the same guitar in a shot I took this evening:

I made sure I used a flash in the one from tonight and replicated the same room lighting from the 2006 image. It looks to me like it's gotten darker over the last 3+ years. It's more beautiful now than the day it was delivered to me.....serious Mojo!!

Is it typical for natural maple tops to get darker with age?

Mine (2000 model Axis) did the same. If I show you pictures of it now you'd probably think that it has been roasted...

With that age comes a sweetness to the tone many times as well. Old wood sounds good.

I have a 2005 JP6 with a neck that is DEFINITELY a lot darker than when I bought it. They do age gracefully. :D

My natural StingRay seems to be doing the same. Either Im more in love and see things rosy or she is darkening. THe grain is really popping. Ill try and get some shots to show you guys.

Gorgeous ASS right off the bat. Even for a lefty.

The quilt looks deeper in the second pic but the lighting in the first pic seems lighter. Tough to call from my point of view. Tis sweet no less!
