Thanks for the kind words! It's amazingly beautiful. I think that one originally came through Du Baldo to a forum member and was much envied because of the nice top.

Nice, is this your first 5 strings bass?

No, but it's my first 5 string EBMM. I've been without 5ers for the past 2 years and haven't played one for a good 3 years.

Those strings seem very very dirty, you better do something about that;-)

Already slapped a new set of Super Slinky's on. :D

It's a 2007 StingRay 5 20th Anniversary single H model in California Sunset finish with rosewood board and matching headstock.

No idea about those strings that were on it, they're already in the trash.

Oh, and I found that beauty on TalkBass.

I really have to disagree with the shirt... That quilt is gorgeous! Nice Score! :)
My 20th is still the favorite EBMM in my collection... Killer good looks & sound!

Congrats Oli on the sweet score! I love mine and the growl is something awesome, a very characteristic sound different from my other Stingray 5's. That tone block makes a difference.

I wish you were stateside, I would love to check out that black sparkle 2 band in person. Shipping fees would eat me alive though. Do you still have your 100th anniv.?

I have to admit that I'm quite surprised with the tone. Especially that I like the series setting almost better than the parallel settings. Which makes it worth to have the single H instead of a dual pickup version I'd have preferred.

Anyway. Will do sound examples so you guys all can hear it...

I believe that the phrase "THAT TOP SUCKS!" is a forum created tongue in cheek phrase representing evny. In other words, "That top sucks because it's not on one of my basses."

But I think it actually means, "That top is beautiful."
