Hi

So I live in South Africa where basses are way over priced and american made basses aren't that readily available.
I've always dreamt of owning a Stringray.
My company sent me to San Francisco for some work, so I went down to the local Guitar Center to play on the basses. I fell in love with a Stingray Classic and I have since sent an order to the Manhattan branch for a black and maple Stingray Classic (since I'm stopping past there on my way back home).

Soooo looking forward to owning a Stingray. Also super pleased that it goes for about half the price of the same bass in South Africa. I'll post pics next week when I get my hands on it :)

Congrats on an awesome choice. Remember, can't just own one! You'll have to schedule another Stateside trip :D

You won't regret this decision! I have a black with maple Classic Ray and it is such a sweet bass! Beautiful tones out of that thing. You'll have the best tone on the continent once you get back.

It's true about the price thing, I live in france and if i had brought my MM in france then it would have cost about 2 300 but it cost 1 700 instead from the US and it's a shame really but then again the choice of MM basses in france isn't that great anyways. One bongo and one stingray in one of the main bass shops in Paris, that really isn't good enough :(

Yeah, it is really sad. I own 2 USA Fenders which I recently got. I managed to get them both at a very good price but if I had got them in the USA the would have been even cheaper.
The availability also sucks, I think my local guitar store has about 3 USA basses. Rather sad :(

It cost to export guys, the best French wine I can get in ireland is 3 times the price it would cost me in France and you keep the very best stuff there :)

I am in Spain at the minute and I had a pint of Guinness that cost me 40% more than it would at home and it was an Irish bar too.

I don't think there is much we can do about price being charged for exported goods.

Congrats on the new bass and please post a pic when you pick it up

So here is a pic of my Ray. Enjoying playing her. I was nervous about flying with her but she survived.
