Sorry if this has been asked a million times before but, is there any special care needed for the neck on an Axis Super Sport? Just won one, and want to make sure that I'll take care of it correctly.
Thanks!

Jim,
Thanks for the info! How often should the "infrequent" use of the gunstock oil and wax be?
Steve,

Damned if I know. Truth is, I've never done mine. I just let 'em get grungy :D

I suppose, however, that I should make some effort to maintain the necks. I live in Ottawa, and we have hot, wet summers, and cold, dry winters, so I should pay some attention to humidity issues. I do my own setups, so I'm comfortable tweaking the neck with the handle on a truss rod wrench whenever necessary - I can eyeball that kind of change well enough that I don't have to play with string height or intonation, I just give the truss rod a little tweak to get everything lined up two or three times over the period of a couple weeks whenever the seasons change. I would be interested in knowing what they mean by "infrequent" as well, but I would suspect that 2 to 4 times a year or so wouldn't be too often?

Usually a couple of times a Year is sufficient.
If you play hard ,sweat hard you may find you need to treat the neck more often.

If your neck feels dry and not smooth it may be time to apply some oil and wax.

Along the lines of dwf1004's post, there's another an "error" I spotted in the FAQ section for neck care. If one does manage to get to the Birchwood Casey website, one will notice that there is no product sold called "Tru-Wax".

Stripping of the neck?

Should you "strip" the old wax & oil off the neck before you apply new coats? If so, how?

Thanks.
