So, I just got my new String Ray last night and have been playing the fool out of it. You know, speed tests and tonal experimentation and Hadron particle collider stuff. I've been playing for a few decades now and consider myself pretty well versed in guitar which brings me to my point/question. I saw on the EBMM website that the neck specs on the Albert Lee SSS and the Sting Ray are the same but I don't feel it on my end. My Sting Ray neck feels somewhat thicker, rounder, and wider (for me, mo' better) than my 2004 Albert Lee. The question is, then, has the Albert Lee neck specs changed since 2004 and, if not, why do my necks feel so different? Could it be that my new Sting Ray has a rosewood fingerboard with SS frets and my AL is maple so my brain is confused more than normal? What's the deal? Nevertheless, it is a happy conundrum for me to be in!
