I have really been considering getting a JP6 guitar with the piezo pickup option. It sounds like it would be a very versatile guitar, and I could always use something versatile for live and studio work. Now my question would be about the neck. I have an Axis that I love (and a BFR on order), and I love the neck; it is absolutely perfect. How does the neck on the JP compare? What about the neck on the JP BFR?

Thanks for any info.

THe neck is quite different. The JP is wider and flatter. BFR has the same dimensions/specs as a regular JP, but the neck is painted.

What's the feeling about the painted version? Is it liked less than the waxed/gunstock oiled one? I really love the way the finish/ non-finish on the axis neck feels.

You'll get a bunch of differing opinions on this topic. Usually the people who don't like the painted neck complain about it feeling sticky when their hands get sweaty.

When I first got my BFR, switching between the standard JP and the BFR was a little odd... for about 5 minutes. Yes, the necks texturally feel different but the finished one doesn't change anything about my playing. Its safe to say that I like them both, I don't prefer one over the other cuz again, it has no effect on my playing. (I started out playing classical guitar so the only part of my hand that ever really touches the neck is my thumb).

I actually feel that the BFR neck is a bit thicker than the standard. I guess it's just the finish that makes it thicker but it is noticeably thicker. The painted neck is definitely a different 'feel', but nothing to worry about.
