Well I've had feedback from the good folks at Strings and Things.

And the neck is in a poorly state espeically on higher frets. I've been given four choices -

1) a free set up by their expert tech (cheers Chaps)
2) a new neck = :)mad: yikes ££££)
3) a complete overhaul on the neck / frets etc (redressing?) = :)( not so many £££)
4) do nothing and make do.

So I've gone with the overhaul, more cash than I wanted/expected to spend but the right decision. I bought the bass to act as a gigging backup, but can't use it as the action is no good for me and still would probably still be not good enough after the set up (a reflection on the neck rather than the work). The bass itself is in great condition.

The morale to this story is..........be wary when buying basses when you have no real right of return, try before parting with cash and know what you're looking at, unless it was in 2 pieces I'd struggle to spot a poor neck.

As I said to Peter at strings and things I'm still a little surprised that the neck is this poor after less than 2 years, the tech said that this kind of fault was not generally caused by missuse or poor treatment it's one of those things.

Hats off and thanks to Pete (Blind Lemon) at Strings and Things for helping me out when they didn't need to, excellent customer service IMO, shame about the neck quality though.

Still lesson learned and looking forward to the return of the bass.

ps thanks to all for their input

I hate experts.

The problem always is, EVERYONE is an expert and most repair people know nothing about Music Man Basses New or Old.
Sure it's not rocket science but you have to know how these basses work in order to fix or set them up.
Then it becomes very easy with Great results.

Wait just a minute now. Some of us are expert at knowing BP and crew will take care of us.

Not sure I mentioned storage, and I have to say Strings and Things have done an awful lot to try an resolve the problem with my bass, all constructive assistance and advice. I assume that as basses are made of a living (was once anyway) material that these things can happen.

I have a lot of time for what strings and things have done for me and my issue. You on the other hand I do not, now I assume that you are a bigwig/owner/whatever within EBMM judging by some of your reponses. Now if you don't like my post, get rid of it and revoke my membership of this forum and I'll never trouble you or your company again!

I am happy to pm you my telephone number / or email address if you want to take this off forum, just let me know because I would welcome the opportunity to talk this thtough with someone within EBMM.

I admire your defence of the quality of your products, and they are fantastic products however I do wish that you could maybe be a bit more constructive with any comments you make on this matter.

OK I took issue with a clerk saying that we needed two truss rods. I am the one who directed you to strings and things and I took issue with the implied lack of quality being used as a reason for your issues.

I am not a big wig but I do own the place and have taken my time to help. Im glad that you appreciate the service you are getting from Stings and Things. Im glad that we were able to dispel the two truss rod garbage.

Please dont pm me or call me..........I want you to stick around and be happy.....two of my posts in your thread were jokes by me........

Oh yeah and read my signature....

BP, The guy that we had look at the bass did not make any comment deriding the quality of Musicman instruments. I know this because I was there. He is a big Musicman fan and I know he would be upset that any comment he made was taken the wrong way.

Thanks for your speedy response, not sure which bit I'm supposed to read but if it's the bit about posting issues before contacting Customer Services, perhaps the moderators of this forum could make it loud and clear for all to see, cause I have to say I missed it when I put up my original post if it's there.

If it's about PMing or contacting you, the offer was for you, I had no intention of calling you guys and bypassing SnT.

If it's in FAQ not sure how many newbies like me read them.

Still thanks again for everyones help, I look forward to the return of the bass.
