Can anyone fill me in on the neck profiles of the various EBMM models? I just got a Luke I bought via mail order, and the neck is much slimmer than anything else I own; certainly much more slim than I expected after reading about the "V" neck shape. It's a V alright, but doggone it's slim. I'm actually considering returning it, because I like very chunky necks. My main guitar is a PRS with a Fat/Wide neck.

Will the factory special order fatter necks?

Thanks,

Kane

Hey me too. Try an Axis or Steve Morse, I've found they have chunkier feeling necks than others (Silhouettes/JPs/AlbertLee/Luke).

Morse neck is chunkier than Silhouettes??? I thought Silo's neck was thicker/chunkier than Morse. Can someone clearify this please, THanks.

The Axis/EVH back shape is probably the chunkiest of the MusicMan guitars ... I find it pretty similar to the U shaped Tele necks. Even though it's chunky, it's also very narrow. I think the Petrucci is the wider but the neck profile is slimmer.

I like the Tele - Axis fat and narrow neck shapes for my small hands. The Gibson 50's or PRS back shape are way too fat and wide for me.

The ALbert neck is a c shape and is so comfortable.

I tried a Pet for the first time the other day - slightly wider but not so deep, felt more like a shallow U (you !) shape. Even with my smallish hands it felt sooooooo nice too!

Hmmmmm...
I jammed with some buddies for 3 hours today, using the Luke. I lasted about 2 hours before I started feeling some stiffness in my fingers. I switched to my Robin Ranger for a while (which is ultra chunky, like a 50's Les Paul), then back to the Luke. First position chords are the worst - my Luke's neck seems slimmest around the first 4-5 frets. Single note runs there are no problem, but playing chords feels rather awkward.
I'll give it another trial run before I decide if I'm keeping it or not, but in the meantime I'm picking up an Axis, and will try that too.
