My advice is don't do it. I don't know how much wood you would have to sand through to get to the truss rod, but I wouldn't risk it. I don't really know how much you want to reshape the neck, but a new one is costly, and I wouldn't want you calling us later and saying" It's Jon's fault! That chump said it would be OK!!":D So again, don't do it. IMO.

Well, let me be clear. The aims would be to

1."satinize" the neck more. But I will try the steel wool thing. and oil and wax.
2. Make it just a little less "round". Not that the neck is uncomfortable, I just prefer a slightly flatter or more oval feel... if I disliked the neck, I wouldn't have bought the thing in the first place. So it would just be flattening the apex of the circle, so to speak. It would only be taking off a16th or so at most I guess. But if you recommend not doing it, then I won't...

Lol, I guess it was your avatar that threw me off:D

The avatar is my son's mouth, where all my money goes... for braces and food. The kid eats continuously.

So, the better solution would be to use lemon oil or maybe, Murphy Soap to clean up the neck, right? And for a maple board, what the best treatment for it?

the best thing I've found to bring back the satin is scotch brite pads in red or green, it is equal to 0000 steel wool but will not leave pieces of steel to collect on the pickup, and then use a little lemon oil or Dr. ducks axe wax.

I was thinking of something like this myself, what to do if i want the neck to feel like it does on the back of the headstock?
