Hi Folks,

Which MM bass has the feel of a jazz neck. I like the narrow feel to the jazz style basses and I am wondering which of the 4-string basses that musicman offers has a similar feel.

Thanks in advance...

Reading about this makes me wonder why they went with P-Bass width in the Bongo, instead of J-Bass width.

I would have thought that 1.5" is the preferred nut width. Guess I'm wrong and there are more P-Bass and StingRay players in the world than Jazz-bass players. :-(

It all depends on your hands...

In my hands, the Sterling neck is the most perfect neck in the world. :D

What about Bongo 4's? Are they wider than the Sterling at the nut? Rounder profile? How does the Bongos compare to a jazz-style neck?

Thanks,

Bongo is wider but doesn't feel as chunky as the SR. When I play my SUB and my Bongo I think they are similar. When I pick up the Sterling, it's significantly skinnier to me personally.

Yes, my Sterling HS is my "go to" bass because I love the neck so much. However, I do feel that my Bongo is the most versatile (HH). If I could make a Stongo or a Bongling, I'd be in heaven!

Thanks for the heads up on the gear. I am currently testing the waters and I am going to sin city today to try out what I can find.

Are the Sterlings comparable in price or are they "elevated" when compared to similarly equipped bongos and rays? (I know that we are not to place actual prices here - I just want a general comparison). Every internet site I look at, it seems the Sterling is pricer than the other products MM offers. Am I wrong?

BTW - I'll let you know if I find one I like... Today is a coasting day to see what our local store have and what deals they can do for me... Wish me luck!!
