Neck swap on Axis Sports?

I have a 1997 Axis Sport with a rosewood fretboard and a 2011 Axis SS with an all maple neck. I’d like to swap them. In theory, should they both fit in each others neck pockets and be a perfect fit? I hate to take off factory set necks for no reason. Thanks!

Yep, they should be interchangeable.

I made the switch. I’m happy as can be with the swap. i think this is how they should have been from the get go. My main goal was to get the maple super sport neck on the sport. I think it looks perfect and plays great. What surprised me is how good the Super Sport now looks with the rosewood. It’s goes with the burst perfectly.

The Super Sport and MM90 Sport neck are nearly identical. The rosewood one is a little different. Overall a tad bigger than the other two.

Unfortunately I didn’t take a before pic so the group photo is the best I have. But I did snap an after pic.

Since you,re *perfecting* your sports,try putting graphtec bridge saddles on,instead of the stock bent steels...takes away the tinny sound..if you suspect that..also,less wear and tear on your right hand.I,ve done it to a few,with good results.

Personally I've always preferred the vintage saddles to the block ones. More 'zing'. But I like a little more high end coming off the guitar.

Thanks, I think I identified them. I might consider on my single coil, but I do like the originals on my MM90 since I'm always trying to make it as Tele honky tonk sounding as possible. Thanks!

Funny,I just looked it up..I believe it,s the PS 8000-00..you can buy them on amazon,as well..for less.I changed out my sport mm90 with these,as I was getting string breakage,and ,maybe a tinny sound as well..all problems solved...and it still twangs like a mofo...they make a good product..nuts,as well....play the hell outta those sports..they,re the best.

As odd as it may seem, I just noticed this tonight. The height neck pocket depth difference is fairly significant between the 1997 Sport and the 2014 Super Sport. The SS is a little deeper than the Sport. You can see some fading on the purple sport neck from being on the Super Sport

I noticed something else and am wondering if anybody has suggestions. Both E strings on my MM90 Sport are pretty even from both edges in running down the fretboard. The SS with the rosewood neck from the purple Sport is also very even from both edges and perfect I'd say. But the SS maple neck on the purple Sport has the high E riding the edge of the fretboard. I loosened the neck to try and tweak it a tad but I could not get it to change anything. I also tried to nudge to saddles over a tad to try and gain some. That worked a tad bit but the high E is still way closer to the edge of the fretboard than either of my other two. Any suggestions? Thanks!
