Guys,
When I received my BFR Emerald ASS a few weeks ago, I noticed that the back of the neck was super dry & very abrasive(along with the fret board being a mess). I finally got around to sanding and re-oiling/waxing.
Somebody recommended using 0000 steel wool. I decided to give it a try. I followed Drew Montel's video and just finished with a nice coat of wax. Holy s#*@ ! This neck is now as smooth and silky as my Purple Tribute.
Just submitting this thread to give a thumbs up on the steel wool method. I highly recommend this on necks that require some serious TLC. Hope this helps.:D:D:D:D:D;

Update:

If using steel wool, tape the pickups as well. The magnets will attract the fine shavings of steel wool that depart the neck as they fall to the ground. *I learned the hard way.........

Oooo, I bought one a few months ago a boston gc for 1300. It was a nos that they had for years and wanted out of their store. Offered 1300 and they took it....I returned it though bc i wanted another evh and have no use for a tone knob. Was there a few weeks ago and they still have it, its priced at 1599 but I know they will bring it down alot bc i already did it once. I didnt want to post it on the forum bc i was thinking about grabbing it again when i saw it but im going for either another evh or a vintage kramer at this point. I have pics of it posted somewhere on here

that's why I use sandpaper. steel wool is a mess. I try to keep it away from my guitars.
