Need an amp to complement my Sterling

My Rig

Hi guys, I need an amp to complement my sterling, at the moment im using a peavey firebass 700 4x10 & 1x15 which sounds awefull, i was looking at an ampeg possibly, i play anything from punk to heavey metal and a bit of funk ocassionaly, i know its a bit off topic from the norm but as its a EBMM Forum i figured you guys were the best ppl to ask
Thanks

I would go with either SWR or Ampeg. I have the best of both worlds, as I have an Ampeg 1 x 15 combo as my practice amp, and then for gigs, I have an SWR SM-500 ran through an Ampeg Classis 4 x 10 HLF cab. The sound is amazing. I get the characteristic articulation of SWR along with the fat-belly bottom and midrange warmth of ampeg!

...So, just a thought...

funnily enough i'm looking to get the same kinda bass sound as the guy from strung out, as my band is not far off the style, the only prob is i live in the uk and the aguilar stuff is like rocking horse s**t, so i'm looking at maybe an ampeg svt 4 pro and a ampeg svt 6x10 hlf cab, but if there is anywhere in the uk that sells the aguilar stuff i would like to go and check it out

The Bass Gallery in London has Aguilar, I believe. I like Aguilar too:)

I love my rig with my SR5, an Ashdown ABM500 with an Epifani 310 cab. However, I've had the opportunity to play the new GK1001 head and the Neo cabs, and that is an incredible sounding rig. Has a little more top end bite than the Ashdown, which is slightly more warm and traditional, but still can sound "old school" enough, if you want.

Mesa M-Pulse 600. Pure sweetness.

One thing I could never figure out about GK...why in the WORLD do they put all the connectors on the FRONT?

Eden makes REALLY nice heads.... I might not suggest one for metal....

I'd go with mesa if you can pay the semi-pretty penny. Other than that Ampeg is nice stuff...
