OrangeChannel said:Yeah they put 250k's in the Silo but the general rule of thub is wiring in 500k pots w/ humbuckers....Jon why do you guys do this? Any insight?
OC,
I believe, at least from my readings on the Seymour Duncan board, that the 250k pots can be used to tame brighter bodies when it comes to humbuckers. In mahogany bodies, which are somewhat mid heavy, the 500k pots bring out some more top end/treble. But in an alder or ash body, I think the 250k is preferable because it makes the pickups sound a little darker. I think. The fender TBX pots may be the way to go, because they incorporate 250k AND 500k pots...matter of fact, my project for today is dropping two tbx'es in my strat armed with two kinman blues single coils and an SD pearly gates. Your milage may vary.
