Does anyone here have any experience shipping something from the USA to Canada, via USPS? The reason I ask is because the dude I purchased the SUB from is concerned he needs a NAFTA declaration to ship. Now I know when you ship UPS you need to fill out certain things, because they're acting as brokers, however I don't think the same applies for USPS shipping. Thanks, in advance...

Raz,

When I ship guitars out of the US with USPS, I always have to fill out an extra form called a Customs Declaration and Dispatch Note (CP-72). It's no big deal, you have to state: sender, addressee, give a description and a monetary value of the item and sign it.

Thanks bro, I remember once getting a late shipment from a dude shipping via FEDEX, and he said he needed to fill out this special form, similar to the NAFTA one, and that he forgot to fill it out properly...but I have never heard of it being used for USPS shipping, where I normally get my stuff.

Don't tell me your shipping ypu JP's :D

Thanks again!

I shipped something by FedEX ground once and it took a month because my supervisor didnt know what she was doing and Fed EX just shipped it to NY where it would sit. It took over a month to get that little steinberger copy to that man. I work out of the mailroom and we always ship stuff by the USPS to other countries unless it has to be overnighted. I would never use fed ex ground again for international shipping. Oh well just info that was not asked for.

No, no that's good info. FedEx and UPS charge brokerage fees and for us Canadian buyers that spells way more money, cause we have to pay border taxes, plus these brokerage fees...sure USPS is a little slower, but hey it's also cheaper!

I got rid a a bunch of Axis guitars and some EVH's to buyers in Europe and GB when I was thinning out the heard, so I'm used to filling out that stupid customs form. My Pets are my babies, and they aren't going anywhere soon!

Your welcome, Mr. Raz-a-ma-taz.

Raz, a commercial invoice should be all you need. I've done this a whack o' times and never needed anything more.

I was going to say sending from the US to Canada via USPS is the same as sending down there via Canada Post. Just fill the out the form with your address, their address, and what it is and how much it's worth. UPS and Fedex are a ripoff with their Brokerage fees, because if it's under $1000.00 declared value you don't need a broker at the border. I paid an extra $40.00 Canadian to receive a Boss Tuner pedal from the states that only cost me $80.00 Canadian with shipping. Total ripoff.

Hey Raz!
I was thinking about your artists model in 2036. If you pattern it after the Steve Morse model it could be called RaMorse :)
