Listen to A Wilhelm Scream's newest album "Career Suicide". All SR4 start to finish, and tell everybody who says a Stingray isn't meant for punk/post hardcore to stick it you know where. :)

BTW, in your situation I'd suggest to get a SUB first. Immediatley and for starters, so to speak. And decided on what to order when you are more used to the handling. Also, it keeps up the anticipation of getting a new one.... :p


And remember, you can never have too many (EBMM) basses! :D

Yeah, I'm going between the HH and HS, I dont really want the traditional H. Because, well I'm not playing traditional music haha
The first few weeks of playing bass I had a pick
Then I hid it in my palm and fingerpicked, and broke out the pick for effect
But now I play all finger
And about the sterling! I really wanted a sterling at first, but then I thought about it alot and I want a stngray more because, one of my favorite bands Madina Lake has a great bassist and he plays a stingray
Now, the fact that he is one of my heroes is not the reason i want a stingray
I want one because of its tone, they play close to the music I'd like to play
For the workforce, drowning by Thursday
and Amity by LoveHateHero are the kinds of styles I want to mix into my music
I'll deffinatly get a sterling after the stingray, though.
Probably as my 5 because its lighter than the stingray

Anytime, I'm glad you liked it...they can be a bit of an aquired taste for most folks. The Stingray sounds right at home in there, doesn't it? If you EVER get a chance to see Wilhelm live, I highly recommend it....their bassist Brian Robinson is a monster and they put on one heck of a high energy show.

Depends on the # of orders at the factory - but general rule is 2-6 months (I know it is a huge window, but it really just depends).

The Piezo works the best with a fretless (is almost a must on fretless). IMO it works ok with the HS (I have only tried this with a Bongo), and I don't like it too much on the HH or H just from the cost/return aspect... but it is something to consider.

Don't just let the sound fool you... take into account the "feel" of the bass. The body size and neck with is different from the SR to the Sterling to the Bongo. Think this way... SR is like a P neck while the Sterling is a Jazz neck and the Bongo is inbetween. You can get the sounds pretty close from bass to bass (I can get some nice SR like (and I stress "like") tones out of my Bongos. The Sterling HS is soooooooooooooo versitle as is the multi pup Rays. So, if you can, try 'em before you order, you might be suprised what you end up with... better yet buy one of each :D

Piezo is a must have for me, but it adds to the cost so it's something you'll need to think about. Also, it is not available on two pickup Sterlings and Singrays - only single pickup Sterlings ans Stingrays.

It is available on all Bongos, and all my Bongos have a piezo bridge. Blended with the magnetic pickups, it adds both a presence on the top and a thump on the bottom. Hard to describe, but notable when dialed in.
 
I think I changed my mind, I think I want a Sterling
All of their sounds are slightly similar, so the shape is kinda what i'm going after
The sterling is much lighter than the stingray
I dunno, I gotta go out and compare these two wooonderful intruments :D
 
if you get a chance do try the mighty bongo!

the hh is a beast soundwise.. from chunky jazz tones to not so fizzy precision tones.. and then 1 gazillion sounds in between :)
