Help! need some advice

I recently bought a jp6 about 3 weeks ago and i am just not getting used to the neck at all when i play it my hand cramps up all the time and that doesnt happen to me on my y2d so 1 option i have is to exchange it for a luke at GC.
i played it tonite for awhile and the fatter neck seemed to fit me better with no cramping.
anyone else have this experience with the thinner neck like on a pet. model.some advice from guys would be much appreciated thanks guys.

I would certainly recommend doing something while you are within your 30 days. Are you in good enough relationship with guitar center to maybe take the luke home for the night?

Personally I find the Luke one of the most comfortable necks ever

i do have 8 days left within my 30 days and no they wont let me take it home for a nite a tried but no. the neck did feel really comfortable

Well, you always could buy both, then take one back. They are both killer good.

I have experienced the same thing with real thin necks.
I find less hand fatigue with a fat neck.
Trade it for the Luke...Or an Albert Lee.

Unfortunately the GC around here only has the Luke and they said it's rare that they even have that there . I have only ever seen a couple of petruuci in the store near me. And he is knocking of 200 hundred dollars for me so that was a good thing.
I was hoping I could have gotten used to the pet. But I don't want to take a chance and keep a guitar I will never play

I also never got along with the JP neck. The thing is that I have played a Silhouette for a long time and really got used to that rounder profile with a 10' radius and now the Y2D is also my favorite. If I were you, I would highly recommend trying out a HH AL. I think it has the fattest neck of the EBMM line-up, but it is so damn comfortable, and the all rosewood neck is a joy to play. Of course the tones are also amazing!

Of course the LUKEs are awesome as well. If you feel more comfortable with it and you like the tones then its a no brainer.

the luke seems like it could take more of a beating then the jp6 , i have a very heavy hand when i play. it seems like the jp6 responds better to more delicate touch .
i really like the looks of the jp but its that neck i dont think i will be able to get used to.

I had a similar problem with the JP neck. I love the neck of a classical guitar I own and thought the JP width would translate well but it didn't for me. It might have been the thinness combined with the string spacing. Anyway, I get along great with all other EBMM necks.

i thought it was going to be like a classical neck also , my wrist feels fine for a little while but after a while of playing it just very uncomfortable and i want guitars i can play for the night. and i dont want to regret keeping the jp if i dont ever use it.

the store is still 2 and a half to 3 hours away and i work alot and cant get time off and sunday is the only day i have off. plus not a big fan of sunburst or maple necks i prefer rosewood.
i asked the kid to check the other GCs around to tell me what they had in stock and he said they all basically had petrucci models.i was going to check that GC in CT. tomorrow. i'm going to call when they open check to see what they have.
eventually i will have to decide on what to do though, but so far the luke seems like my best deal where i wont have to put anymore money down on it.
at least i wont have to get used to a new color ironically they are both graphite pearl.

I think you will like the LUKE in the long run. I know what you mean about the thin necks on the JP - either you like it or you don't. The neck on the LUKE is more or a normal shape and the guitar can get some killer ass tones. Go for it.

i think i will like the luke more in the long run , i did like the neck at first but after playing on for awhile it just lost it for me. the neck on the luke feels more like my morse and it may be easier to go back and forth between the 2 when im at a gig. i dont think i can just grab the jp and play, i will have to get used to it.
well we shall see what tomorrow will bring us if i trade it in for the luke or not.
hope I make the right choice in the end.

Well it looked like everything I expected when I opened the case until I grabbed the neck and went uh oh. It totally took me by surprise as I did not expect it to have such a thin neck. The bottom line it was totally my mistake for buying a guitar without playing it first. It is the only neck on a Ball I just do not get along with, and the guitar now belongs to my son.Hey there is no sin because the neck is not for you, so just get the Luke if it is comfortable. You should know the minute you pick up a guitar if it is for you, as unlike a lot of other things they are not so easy to learn to love lol.

i know its a no brainer keeping a guitar that your not gonna play that much isnt a good idea.
the neck does feel good for about ten minutes anyway. did you have to keep the jpor were you able to send it back?
