I have been looking for an Axis SS with the following build no luck at all.

MM90's
Tremolo
Piezo
Vintage Sunburst
Rosewood fretboard
matching headstock

I am familiar with the sound of the Axis SS with the MM90's but not with the Dimarzios.

I found a new Axis SS with the following specs.
Rosewood top
2 humbucker Zebra pickups
Tunamatic Tremolo bridge
Sperzal tuners
PIEZO system.

Can someone please try to articulate to me the difference in the sounds from these two guitars?

Thanks,
Dave (DJ)

In case it wasn't as obvious as the nose on your face... this will be my first Musicman. The only experience I have had with the Musicman so far has been a very little time in the music store but I was really impressed with the neck and action.

I have always played a Gretsch in the past and that is why all of the questions. It is an investment and I would like it to be a good experience.

Thanks for your patience with the newb,

First welcome aboard fellow Texan, now if you know what you want why not contact a dealer and order it.

Second the ASS you say you found sounds like it has been modded,.

An ASS with the stock hums is great and a peizo is always a great option.

So is the ASS you are asking about used or new, lots of great dealers on this site who can help.

I love my ASS with Hums.

Shoot me a PM and we can chat.

DJ I just did a search of all the dealers in the US. No one has that exact guitar. You'll have to special order it through your local dealer. You can use this build code: 341-71-21-00.

The MM90's will give you a brighter sound than the humbuckers. Think of the MM90 as a single coil on steroids. The humbucker is darker and thicker sounding than the MM90.

With the Rosewood Top Axis SS you mentioned make sure you try before you buy. They have a solid rosewood neck. I originally was going to buy one, and while it was absolutely stunning, I didn't care for the Rosewood neck. Birdseye Maple just feels much better imo.

Good advice.
I wish I could try it first but it is not located in my neck of the woods.

Thanks,
