Here's a cool interview with Neil Zaza, he talked and demoed one of his longtime main guitar, a red EBMM EVH with a hardtail, rare piece, check it out @ 1:45:

Nice video clip.
A couple of years ago this one came up for grabs via this forum - I drove a 800+ mile roundtrip to get it. - glad that I didn't pass up on it!!

Cool, that's the exact same one Zaza uses. What's a 800 miles drive in the UK, the country is beautiful anyway :)

Fred - you're the first to mention it - so you are officially #1 in the queue. (But I did pay £1000 for it.)

I'll even bring it over personally ha!

Yeah it is - that's a great video clip posted and the hardtail EVH will become a rare collectors piece I am sure.
All the way up to Scotland and back a 400+ mile trip - a lot of Motorway tarmac to see but some great country side as you get near to Scotland.

The epic trip is here

Spud, how often do you play that Gem? Is it a 1st grab whenever you get the itch or is locked in the safe under the house with your Krugerrand and Barbie doll collection?:)

Do hard tails Axis/evh sound different to the trem models?

love it and want it too.

I cannot believe this guy has been recording since 89 and this is the first time I have ever seen or heard of him. I had to google him after clicking onto the link under the interview and watching the video of him playing the song I'm Alright, which was totally alright with me. Wow just one of those songs you here once and have to play it five times. Will definitely check out his work, thanks for the turn on Tung.

Hee hee where do you get em from?

I know this isn't strictly 100% in context with the thread but as you've mentioned the hardtail EVH I'm happy to comment.

I don't play it very often - but I am a firm believer in guitars being played.
i took it out for an "outing" last night and received nice comments about it.

No it's not first grab - that will be the BCB Albert. I usually have two guitars out on stands in my loft room which are invariably a combination of the Pet or the Als. The EVH spends a lot of time in it's case. It was (is) a gigged guitar -shows some battle scars but nothing that is really bad. I really do treat it with kid gloves and stand nowhere near mad bass players who use their guitar necks as medieval lances and of flailing drummers arms. When I put it down I try to put it back in it's case.
With regard to sounding different? I bleeb that the EVH sounds different to my mate's (OlPlayer's) 2 Axis - he has a hardtail and and supersport with MM Trem. My problem is that I cannot get on with a Floyd , I don't need the floyd's capability and the fact that I was after a hardtail EVH sold the deal when this one came up. I really think that the hardtail EVH will become a huge classic in many years to come.

Anyways Travs me ol' sprout you got the makings of a classic yourself with that lovely LEAL of yours.
Spud

PS I will NEVER tell you wher I keep my collection of Barbie dolls!!
PPS I do have a nice collection of VW models !!

Ok now I am way off track!!

You're very welcome. "I'm alright" was a big hit for him in Asia. He toured over there constantly to packed houses playing instrumental rock! (something you wouldn't see over here that often unless it's G3 or something like that).\
I think Neil is very underrated. You should check out his live album "Snap, Crackle, Pop...live". you will not be dissapointed, just a trio and the energy is incredible. that's my favorite from Neil Zaza, and it's recorded with the same EBMM EVH we saw here.
