Does anyone have any info this brand new Stingray I saw yesterday: Trans blue, rosewood neck, 2 band-EQ, string-thru body, no mutes, and contoured body. It was not a Custom Classic. Anything special about it besides the fact it was an awesome Stingray? If I didn't have a Custom Classic on order, I probably would have bought it.

Not sure where in NJ the OP is, but I saw a similar bass at the Guitar Center in Paramus, NJ. Was a good looking bass. Didn't have time to play it, but looked like a winner to me.

It's not the new Classic Series, but it is one that we did for Guitar Center only. We made and shipped the one you described late last year.

Are there any pictures of these trans blue Stingrays? I think there was another thread floating around here a while back about it, but I haven't seen any pictures surface yet.

Yes - it's in the Paramus GC, the OP is a friend of mine and he's very unstable - terrible, terrible GAS problem - I'm always afraid of tempting him . . . if I told him EBMM made that bass passive & put a Tootsie Roll in the battery compartment, he'd get in the car and head to Paramus GC . . . he's got one hell of a sweet tooth too . . .

Thank you very much. Good to know.

Did it have a hard-finished neck (lacquered) or was it oiled/waxed?
I think I remember it was the waxed neck. It was a very light bass. Must have been in the mid 8 lb range. Maple board, and I probably would have bought it.

Hey! I resemble those remarks!

Is this a different trans blue than pacific?

Yeah, it looks more like the original trans blue from a few years back (as I remember from photos). There was one at the local GC a couple weeks back; I'll try to snap a few phone pics if I can swing by this weekend.

I didnt know such a thing existed. I am only familiar with the blue pearl, electric blue, baby blue, pacific fade and dawn fade. The last being (so far) my fave EBMM blue.

Alrighty, here is a picture of the trans blue (looks darker in the pic than real life, just like Pac Blue Burst). I also snapped a shot of one of the string-thru bodied Stingrays from the back and a shot from the front to show the standard color. Also attached a pic of the ebony fretboard :)

Crazy! I have never seen a black nut on a Musicman that wasnt a stealth. But then my memory eludes me at times.
I saw a bunch of crazy stuff at GC today in El Cerrito also. No classics but a whole bunch of stealths. Also a blue stingray 5 with gold hardware and gold swirl pickguard that had a rather optimistic price tag as if it was a BFR or something. Also a real nice rosewood neck BFR Sterling with a much more justified hang tag. Those rosewood necks sound nice.

Yeah, these seem to be a run for GC. Both that I saw with the black nut also had ebony fretboards (I think it's to help identify that it is an ebony)... maybe someone else can chime in who's in the know? :)

Saw a few of the ebony necked basses today at the San Francisco Guitar Center.
(apologize in advance for the low quality blackberry photos)
Very seductive instruments they are!
The Stingray fiver (black cherry burst) one had some crazy MOP fret markers.
Each one has a little dot inside the dot?

the dual bucker ray in graphite pearl was very, very nice as well.
Though it didn't have the special fret markers.
It was trying to convince me that the IRS wont miss that tax payment I owe.

Is there a special name for these basses? "GC Edition" or something? Are they being made all the time, or was there just one run near the end of last year for these string-thru basses? Anyone know what colors/options they came in?

I've listed the codes and descriptions for the string thru basses we shipped at the end of last year. GC may be able to do a search to see if there are any of these left. We only did this run of them, it's not a normal production item. Let me know if you have any other questions!!
