New 20th Anniv.SR 5

Well I finally found a Maple neck 20th to go with my Rswd. 20th. Man I am loving these
basses, I didn't think I'd find another HH this late, but I went to see Jack Gretz at Magdon Music in PA, as on the guitar side I rep. for Sommatone Amplifiers, I'm in the store 30 seconds & as I scan the floor & Bam! I see this Maple beauty hanging up, needless to say I immediately say hi to Jack followed by "I'll take it" then I got back to talking guitar Amps. Glad to be in the MM fold. These are killer instruments. Rick

pretty much exactly what I hoped for, the maple isn't just brighter it has a more aggressive tone, which makes the b string even stronger. I just got it today & I'm buried right now, but I just A/B'd them flat to get a feel. I'm digging the pre amps on these big time, I like the flexibility you get at each position, I've never played a bass with such a versatile bridge pickup.I'm blown away that you can roll/cut the treble completely and still have a useable tone even on the neck pup and not just mud. I also like the change in the feel of the neck switching to the maple. Thanks, Rick

Thanks, is there a big difference in the B string on the reg. SR5 compared to the Anniv?
I'm thinking of another MM at some point, also I see there is alot of love here for the Bongo.
I have to go play them to see the difference, I like full size so I don't think the Sterling will work for me. I have to sell my new Lull & then I'll start my quest for the next MM. I have pretty bad carpel tunnel in both hands , which is how I got to MM, wrong way to get here but I love them so I'm in. Rick

I own a 20th anniversary hh with maple boardand had A regular hh sr5 maple as well. The regular sr5 was a bit more harsh sounding i almost always rolled the treble down playing the bridge pup. Not the case with the anniversary model. Also the B string on the anniverasry model is tighter... thats probably the mahogany tone block... but anyways both are killer instruments..
