On Tuesday just as I was setting off to visit my relatives here:eek: (wot a fantastic property - 17th Century listed building surrounded by strawberry fields- how the other half live huh? Where did I go wrong?)
and a delivery van turned up and dropped off a parcel from the USA.:)

It was a guitar case for my EVH and the MM catalogue. This was advertised a while ago only for sale to US residents. I was gutted, especially as I can find rocking horse manure a lot easier. So fellow knucklehead GWDavis28 arranged the deal and had it shipped to him, then he sent it over to me.

Inside was the catalogue and 2 copies of a guitar magazine which he tracked down for me. It has a picture of Dave Grohl holding a guitar originaaly built by my mate for Phil Cambell of Motorhead and now owned by Mr Grohl.

Man, to get the guitar case was somthing and this extra touch from Glen
meant a lot.

It will house my EVH just nice!!

Without Glen stepping in and doing this for me, this deal would not have happened.
THANKS MAN- another example of good things done on this great forum.

I owe you one - oh yeah and some money !!!

Your Welcome!!!

Kevin, no problem as I told you before, it took a bit longer than I had anticipated, but glad it arrived. I was also glad I could find the magazines we had talked about oh so long ago man, :D.

Oh yah man, it totally slipped my mind, I'll tally it all up and PM you this weekend sometime.

Hey man you've helped me out in the past it was the last I could do. Glad it arrived safe and it all worked out.

That thatched cottage is just awesome - original (low) oak beams. Fabulous location. He's an eminant surgeaon who works a lot with the navy when he has some spare time - not so much nowadays. Really really nice guy!

Good memoryTNT - I bleeb it was last November though when I went to see family in the Middle East. This all sounds rather grand, but I just find my air fare and have a "relatively" (lol) cheap holiday

Great gesture by Glen who went some way to do this deal - some people may think it's mad to maybe get something like this, but I always thought that my EVH needed to be the whole package.

I'd love to know what the (hardtails) guitars actually came with in the day?

Kev, you've done me favors in the past my friend, it was the least I could do. I'm really glad it all worked out.

If my memory serves me correctly, my Hardtail EVH had the following in the case:

Ernie Ball Polish Cloth
The Spec Sheet you already have
A set of Allen Keys/Wrenches (for action adjustment)
A QC Setup checklist (signed by someone at the factory, I believe)
Spare Floyd Rose Springs (odd considering it was a hardtail!)
And some kind of metal pick shaped tool I assume used to adjust something with the Floyd.

Great story and show of class by Glenn to take the time putting that together and getting it to you.

Stray, thanx :) Kevin had done me a few favors in the past it was the least I could do. Plus he really wanted it and it wasn't a really bad price. In the end once again, I'm glad it made it there in one piece. :D

@Tim Sullivan. Thanks for that Tim - a strange set of "Case Candy" considering it's a hard tail.
A further OCD type question for you, but you may no longer be able to answer it if you've used it, is/was the polishing cloth the same type as you get now? - the yellow thing in a plastic bag? (I'm embarrased to ask :))

Excellent forum karma, Glenn. Very nice.

I'm glad Kevin posted pics of the house. I've never seen a roof like that before.

I go to Newberry UK and London a few times a year on business and I have made a point during my off time to travel around the UK and I can say that place is beautiful!

Thanks for that. It was just a bit of spice to the thread. It is such a fantastic building and there is soooo
much cool history about the area, going back to the days of King Charles

Charles I (19 November 1600 – 30 January 1649) was monarch of the three kingdoms of England, Scotland, and Ireland from 27 March 1625 until his execution in 1649.

Charles engaged in a struggle for power with the Parliament of England, attempting to obtain royal revenue whilst Parliament sought to curb his royal prerogative, which Charles believed was divinely ordained.

He remained defiant by attempting to forge an alliance with Scotland and escaping to the Isle of Wight. This provoked a Second Civil War (1648–49) and a second defeat for Charles, who was subsequently captured, tried, convicted, and executed for high treason.

The monarchy was abolished and a republic called the Commonwealth of England, also referred to as the Cromwellian Interregnum, was declared in 1660.

The cottage is right next to a 17th Century Brick bridge where Charles hid to avoid capture before crossing The Solent Waters to the Isle of Wight (Famous for it's woodstock esque Concert).

The Reed Thatch on the Cottage needs to replaced every 30 years and was recently rethatched(at great expense).

Right ... back to guitars :D

Wow, what an amazing home. The craftsmanship in the the roof alone is stunning. Unique looking. I imagine there has to be enough homes in the area to warrant a roofing company to still be able to offer re-roof in this style?

Glenn, that was a great solid you did for Kevin. Good one sir.

Kevin, how about a sneak peek at the specs booklet? Never seen the inside of one.

Yes, it was the same kind of cloth. In fact, I still have the polish cloth that came with my EVH, and use it all the time! You can see it in the picture below:

It came in a small plastic bag, with a card stapled to the top. How about that for testing my memory!

@Tim. Cheers Tim. Wow that picture of your case contents deserves a thread all to itself :D. I have one of those plectrum cases, maybe it came from the same Kangaroo who must now be singing "castrato"

@Mtrejo. There's not that many "Thatched Cottages" in comparison with conventional roofs in the UK that use slate or tile.I know a lot of roofs in the US are shingles, and you don't see those in the UK.

The roofers known as Thatchers are a dying breed - many of their skills are dying with them and they travel the country plying their trade.
