I bought a used Mark IV short head from a place in California for $799 w/out a footswitch today! I can't wait to start nailing Petrucci's tone! Which albums has he used the Mark IV on? Just curious...

Systematic Chaos is the only DT album he used a IV on.

Though he used his IIC+ on many albums, and the MK VI can get a pretty close sound to the IIC+.

I guess I'll just have to learn some songs from the new album. Oh darn. ;) Their new CD should arrive any day now! I'm sure I will be able to get close enough to his tone in general to make the cost worthwhile...

Thanks for the info!

BTW, your Bahama Blueburst BFR F-1 is going to be a SICK guitar.

BTW, the tones on SC he is getting with the BFR proto and his Mark IVs are pretty damn awesome! I watched the video - he is using that proto (the one with the neck binding) on whole bunches of tracks - especially for solos - very sweet!

His tones an incredible on this album.

And yes, the Bahama Blueburst is going to be just amazing, I hope it comes this month.

The F-1 into my Mark III Coliseum, (which arguably sounds better than a Mk IIC+ or a Mark IV, to me at least), will be the sweetest sound known to man. ;)

Oh man, you got a Mark IV!! You must be pumped, I've never played one but heard lots of sound clips of it and it sounds great!! If Petrucci uses it, you know it's going to be good!! Congrats! :D

I've owned a Mark IV combo and a Mark IV head, and with my JP6, both sounded amazing (and identical). It's a great amp, you can't go wrong with it.

Nice one - I gotta say that yesterday I tried a Mesa Boogie for the first time a F50 combo and it was great with my LEAL.

Gonna try out an old musicman RD112 combo today I hope.

Good luck with the new amp.

For me, my choice was between the Mark IV and the Roadster. I went with the Roadster just because I love high gain crushing-ness... I'll get a IV one day, though! :D

I love high gain, too (hence the Peavey XXX), but I've had some noise issues lately due to the high gainness... A friend of mine showed off his Mark IV one day, and it was love at first listen... :D

Now if I could only locate a footswitch and suitable cab... I'll have to use the XXX cab until I find a Mesa replacement...

I played one once, and was just mind boggled at the options! Also it seemed that when you moved the knobs .1% the amp sounded totally different! Good luck to you!

I bet that 4x12 cab is HEAVY! Both weight wise AND sound wise!

Just noticed that the 1x12 cab I bought has a G12H30 in it (30 watts). Think I should swap it out for a V30 (60 watts)? Don't want to blow the speaker...
