Maybe they got a bootleg copy of the open house forum awards and had to endure Dude's stream-of-consciousness-lunatic-ramblings-of-a-madman acceptance speech.

(Only a working theory)

I love this stuff! It's like the inside stuff that only the very hip know about.

I hope you're not insinuating that I am very hip.

When the owner, CEO of a company joins with the common customer, to inlight or just joke around is very cool in my book, and BP your thread about my Bongo really made my day.

Just as I am not 'very hip', you, my man, could never be considered a "common customer". But I too thought it was pretty groovy that Sterling is cracking the whip on your bass. I think it's Ursula's fault, frankly.

I've been running a one person hospital here at my house, one of the toughest jobs I've ever done. My Mom is my biggest fan, she supported my music before and above anyone else, and now I'm loosing my biggest fan.

I am always available, Chuck. Always. I don't have a lot of good information or much insight, but I'm pretty good at the soothing noises, right? For those who are swooping in as voyeurs, Chuck and I have already been on the phone.

I think in this photo Jack is bragging to BP how much higher he can lift his arm compared to the Dude ;)

I just ordered a new circuit for our primary internet connection. Twice the bandwidith of a T1 (3 Megabit) and more available if I need it. I ought to have it up and running within the next 3 weeks or so.. as long as the provisioning is on schedule.

I'm cool...I've been running this thing from a duct taped together PC from one garage or another for a few years now and they ain't gotten rid of or locked me up yet....and I only shave with the promise of sex.

Steve I just checked out the photo of the handshake, I think he has his fingers crossed behind his back. :) On an unrelated story all the fire extinguishers went missing at NAMM too. :D

You were. I have a bootleg DVD of the event, including when Biff had to give you the hook.
I suppose a bootleg of the Dudes speech floating around is better than his sex tape being released

I delighted in approaching naval aviators when we would, three times a year, have to attend Sexual Harassment Training. I would stick my hand out and say, "Thank you!" And it's hard to resist someone who has their hand out and is clearly thanking you, right? So I'd get a lot of handshakes and then a question. "Why are you thanking me?"

So then I'd bring up Tailhook and how I loved taking valuable time out of my day to attend training that I didn't need or want.

The smiles would invariably fade.

You see, we did the same things those idiot pilots did, only we had the good common sense to do it overseas with paid professionals, and anyone with a camera or other recording device was immediately beaten and the device was confiscated and rendered useless.

Whoa, did I say that out loud?

Oh man bovine! You had to bring up those terrible memories....LOL..

God I hated that. It was almost like we (the ones who knew not to get caught) we the criminals.....hilarious I say.

BTW - Dude, I think you will be fine. Looks like your business is doing well and I really don't think you have anything to worry about. Plus, I joined the Pit a few days ago (felt I had to) and will be getting some merch soon. My wife likes the logo and wants something with it on........suggestions?

Ahh yes, sexual harrasment training. Almost as good as cultural sensitivity training, which is basically used to tell every single ethinic joke known to man, barring no races, cultures or religions.

My current favorite bass is my Buttercream LE SR4 HH that I purchased from Dude. I sold a G&L LB-100 to help pay for it. Coincidence? :)

Regarding the Dude's business model: I favor "mom-and-pop" operations over chain stores, especially where musical instruments are concerned. Unfortunately, an ever-shrinking number of mom-and-pop shops have a decent selection of instruments, forcing many of us to make a tough choice. We've all read about the dilemma of having to turn to an internet chain because the local shop didn't have what we needed.

Then along came the Dude and VBTC: an internet-based "mom-and-pop" shop with massive selection, great prices and customer service that cannot be beat. Dude isn't a Brick-and-Mortar operation and I don't think it matters. From what I've seen, brick-and-mortar doesn't guarantee permanence anyway...my local Yellow Pages is filled with listings for now-defunct guitar shops. :(

So rock on, Dude. I've sent you a dollar or two over the years for new and used gear and I've never been disappointed. Never.

And BP...thanks for having the vision to understand what we bass players want and who we want to do business with.

-Craig
