My new (to me) Axis came in today. I wanted to post a pic of all three of my EBMM's before I break up the set when I ship off the Amber one.

I know. I was slightly disappointed when I got the guitar this morning. I opened the case up expecting ribbons of quilted maple, and I didn't see them. Then I looked at it under some different lighting, and the waves just magically appeared.

This isn't a super sport (that I'm aware of). It's an Axis hardtail, probably made in the transition years between the EVH and the Sport/Super Sport. I'm still waiting to hear from Customer Service (as I should be, since they're not open) about the DOB on this one.

For a probably 8-10 year old guitar, it's in very good shape. There's two very small dings on the top, near the volume knob, but otherwise, it's in great shape.

I'm really happy with this. They seem to be somewhat rare, or in the very least just hard to come by. I feel like a got a good deal on a very nice guitar. Sucks that I have to sell off me other Axis, but I've been thinking of replacing that one lately.

Time to go clean it and restring it. The neck's pretty grungy, and the strings are beyond dead. I just happened to have a pack of Slinky's just waiting for this guitar.

whatcha talkin bout willis, aint no super sport there! tis a cool top indeed, funny how it looks dodgy in one pic, but in the first pic it looks amazing!!!

Whoops.....I took a quick look and saw that it was a hardtail....and assumed that it was a Super Sport........maybe I'll look at the whole guitar next time before posting :)

No, not going away from Floyds. Just restructuring the collection a little bit. I'll probably get another Floyd guitar next year sometime. I might even save up and order a new Axis.

I'm also trying to tame my G.A.S. a little. My wallet (and my marriage) won't survive if I don't slow down a bit.

Good job !

Axis Hardtail is a killing guitar you will love it (if not PM me :D ;) )

LOL . . . .

I just did a "taste test", comparing the Axis to the SUB 1. (I was possibly going to put the SUB 1 on the chopping block to make way for a new Floyd Axis.) I think I'll be keeping both of them. I like them both. They each have a different feel, but they both had a distinctive sound that I really like.

Don't worry about the Axis hardtail being available. I think it's safe where it is.

I do need to call CS tomorrow. With it being ten years old, I do have one thing to fix. One tuner won't stay in tune. I'll probably need to replace it, and I might go ahead and replace the other five while I'm at it.
